Dear Parents, Guardians and Students:

The Guidance Department would like to welcome the incoming sixth graders and their parents/guardians to Eastview. Please accept this letter as an invitation for you to attend one of the workshops listed below. At this workshop we will address your concerns and answer any questions that you may have. Students are invited to accompany their family members to Eastview, at which time a staff member will meet with the students while another staff member will meet with the adults.

During our time together, we will describe the role of the Guidance Counselor, review reporting procedures (i.e., report cards, progress reports, etc.), discuss appropriate planner usage, homework policies, schedules, lockers, and book bags. There will be an opportunity for you to share any concerns you may have as well.

Please provide us with any additional information regarding your child that may not have been conveyed to us by the fifth grade teacher. Feel free to write down this information and bring it with you to the workshop session. Also, tell us whether you would like this information shared with your child’s sixth grade teachers.

Since we would like to provide an informal and intimate atmosphere where we can talk and get to know each other, we are limiting each workshop to 20 participants.

Our workshops will last one hour. Please choose one of the sessions listed below and inform the Main Office, 422-2223, before Monday, July 16th, so that we have an opportunity to plan effectively.

Estimados Padres/Guardianes y Estudiantes:

Anticipandonos al año escolar venidero, el Departamento de Consejería se complace en darle la bienvenida a los estudiantes de sexto grado y a sus padres/guardianes a Eastview. De manera que esta carta sirve como una invitación para que usted atienda una de nuestras reuniones indicadas abajo. Esperamos que estas reuniones contesten muchas de sus preguntas. Se invita a los estudiantes a que acompañen a los miembros de su familia a Eastview. Los estudiantes hablaran con un representante de la escuela mientras que los padres hablen con otro representante de la escuela.

Durante este rato juntos, nosotros describiremos el papel que desempeña el consejero/guía, revisaremos los procedimientos de los reportes (ej., reporte de notas, reportes del progreso, etc.), discutiremos sobre el uso apropiado del “planner”, la política de las tareas, los horarios, los armarios, las mochilas,. Habrá oportunidad para que usted comparta sus preocupaciones igualmente.

Por favor proporciónenos cualquier información adicional con respecto a su niño que no haya sido compartida con nosotros por el profesor de 5to. grado. Siéntase en la libertad de escribir esta información en un papel y traerla consigo a la reunión. También, díganos si es que le gustaría o no que esta información sea compartida con los profesores de sexto grado de su niño.

Debido a que nos gustaría proveer una atmósfera informal é íntima donde podamos conversar y conocernos unos a otros, estamos limitando cada reunión a 20 participantes.

Nuestras reuniones durarán aproximadamente una hora. Nosotros estamos ofreciendo dos fechas y le pedimos que se registre para atender una sesión. Por favor regístrese con la Oficina de Consejería, al 422-2223, antes del Monday, July 16th para que así podamos planificar efectivamente.
