Sophomore Level Simulation Experience Assignment

Pre simulation assignment: you will complete the following:

  Complete assigned readings emailed to you by Simulation Facilitator.

  Complete the assigned pre-simulation quiz at least 30 minutes prior to arrival to simulation experience (Located in the Potter and Perry SLS, click on your assigned patient and quiz is under pre-simulation exercises).

  Watch or review simulation orientation/mannequin orientation videos located in your Soph orientation health course content section (this will help familiarize yourself with simulation, the room and the mannequin).

  Examine your assigned patients electronic medical record (located under the patient in the Potter and Perry SLS)(NOTE STAY IN THE PRE SIMULATION AREA OF CHART {DO NOT START SIMULATION})

  Complete the EMR (electronic medical record) chart scavenger hunt located in d2l, print out and bring to simulation this is your admission ticket

  Review your patients medications, physician orders, lab results and any other key patient components you feel you need to know about to competently care for your assigned patient.

Simulation Assignment:

  Provide competent, safe, patient-centered care

  Document your care in the Electronic Medical Record and submit it to the evolve site.

Post -Simulation Assignment:

  Participate actively in a guided debriefing session with your simulation facilitator immediately following your simulation.

  Complete the Post-Simulation Quiz (located under post simulation exercises section of Perry and potter SLS)

  Complete the Post- simulation survey sent to you via email

  Complete the Guided Reflection below (your grade for the reflection will be determined based on the depth and breadth of your responses) Submit this to your Clinical D2L Drop box.

  Finally, submit your pre and post simulation quiz scores (in the appropriate box below) scores to your Clinical instructor
