JOB DESCRIPTION – PROJECT ENGINEER (Structural-NY)

Job Summary:
The Project Engineer (structural) position supports commercial and residential client projects by a mix of inspecting buildings and facades for deficiencies, designing remediation plans, new structures, additions and alterations, and creating engineering design plans and documents for obtaining permits, in accordance with city, client, and company specifications.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plans, designs, and prepares plans for projects in need of remediation.
  • Performs building inspections, both interior and exterior to assess existing conditions of building facades, roofs, and structural systems.
  • Familiar with Local Law 11 requirements and performs scaffold drop inspections, fire escape inspections, balcony inspections, etc. with familiarity on types of deficiencies to be noted and reported. Prepare reports.
  • Fulfills project requirements by training and guiding operators. Maintains operations by enforcing project and operational policies and procedures. Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Performs construction oversight and administration to ensure contractors perform work as intended by the issued “for construction” design plans used to obtain permit.
  • Maintains appropriate project data to insure budgets, manpower and timelines are adequate to meet the expectations of the client and company.
  • Contribute to PVE, LLC overall performance by working on cross-functional teams in order to meet unified goals (e.g., budget management, safety initiatives, performance management, and business strategy).
  • Maintains operations by enforcing project and operational policies and procedures.
  • Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Performs other duties as needed and assigned.

Education/Skills/Qualifications:
B.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university. EIT certification is preferred. Professional registration (P.E.) in State of NY is a plus.

Qualified candidate will have 2-4 years of Civil Engineering experience in structural engineering and construction administration services. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, RAM Elements, Design Skills, Planning, Conceptual Skills, Legal Compliance, and Drafting required.

Valid driver’s license required.

Candidates must display excellent communication skills and strong customer facing personality in order to effectively work with clients and team members. Candidates must also display strong organizational skills.
