Ceremony of Commitment
Presider: This day is an occasion for great joy and celebration. Christ the Lord has invited many among us to publicly make or renew their commitments in the CLC Way of Life. We rejoice that the Holy Spirit has prompted our brothers and sisters to recognize and respond to this invitation of Christ.
The new members stand forming a circle facing the altar. The Presider then questions the new members:
Presider: Is it your intention to offer yourselves freely and without reservation as a gift to God, with a desire to live the fullness of your Christian vocation in the world?
Candidates: Yes, it is.
Presider: Is it your intention to follow the way of life of the Christian Life Community as expressed in the General Principles and Norms?
Candidates: Yes, it is.
Presider: My sisters and brothers, trust that the Holy Spirit will empower you and help you to continually say “yes” to God. Mary, the Mother of the Lord is your special advocate. Is it your intention to seek Mary’s assistance in fulfilling your commitment?
Candidates: Yes, it is.
Presider: In the name of the Christian Life Community, I gladly invite you to kneel and together make your Act of Commitment.
Lord, Jesus Christ, in the presence of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Holy Mother, Saint Joseph, her husband and Saint Ignatius Loyola, I ______make my Act of (Temporary/Permanent) Commitment to the World Christian Life Community as a member of the ______
Grateful and conscious of your call, I promise to live faithfully according to the way of Christian life and apostolic service set forth in the General Principles of Christian Life Communities.
Almighty God, as You have given me the desire to freely make this commitment, I ask you to give me the grace to fulfill it.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. AMEN
