EQ: How does learning new vocabulary help me when I’m writing and with reading comprehension?
1.Activator –vocabulary preview –students look at each of their new words and mark whether they know them, have heard them, or do not know them.
2.Teaching –students will view the lesson 4 flocabulary video - , they will receive the copy of vocabulary tic tac toes activity and begin working on that
3.Summarizing –Ticket out the door –write a sentence using one of your new vocabulary words
4.Differentiation –, preview, sentence starters, oral reading, copy of words and definitions, choice boards
Tuesday

EQ: In what ways do the story elements contribute to the plot in “Harris and Me”?
1. Activator –Review story elements using the Flocabulary video “The 5 Things”
2.Teaching –Play the “Three Little Pigs”you tube video ( Student will construct the first foldable in this lesson in their interactive notebooks and write their definitions under each; Next, students will construct the “5 Things”Foldable and fill in their notes as they relate to the story.
3.Summarizing –quick quiz –What are the 5 things??
4.Differentiation –varied length of time to complete assignments, Tiered activity, auditory, visual and tactile presentation, modeling
Wednesday

EQ: In what ways do the story elements contribute to the plot in “Harris and Me”?
1. Activator –Review–“What are the 5 things?”
2.Teaching –Continue working on story elements lesson and foldables. Read chapters 8-9 in Harris and Me”and mark evidence of story elements with post its as we read.
3.Summarizing –Share your evidence with your group
4.4. Differentiation – oral reading, tiered activity, flexible grouping, manipulatives, visual and tactile presentation, notetaking graphic organizers

EQ: How do I use the story elements to determine the theme?
1.Activator –Story Elements Quiz (teacher will meet with small groups to reteach as needed)
2.Teaching –Continue reading “Harris and Me”, CH 10 and 11 - Chapter 10 oral reading and discussion, Chapter 11 silent reading –students will answer comprehension questions on chapters 10 and 11 related to the 5 story elements.
3.Summarizing – Review/go over questions
4. Differentiation –tiered activity, reading buddies, small group reteach as needed, multi-level questions

EQ: What strategies can I use to help aid in my comprehension of text?
1. Activator –Students will have a journal to complete on the blog. “What strategies do you use when reading independently to help you better understand?”
2. Teaching –Students will work on leveled lessons in Moby Max and/or read independently using Myon reader –some students will receive remediation on this week’s skills as needed.
3. Summarizing –share the main idea of your independent reading selection with a partner.
4. Differentiation –oral reading of text, leveled lessons, remediation, varied reading levels (MyOn), audio for listening to text materials
