A SHORT WALK IN ROUNDHAY PARK
Wednesday 12 August at 2.30pm
The first of a series of ecumenical short walks in Roundhay Park. The intention is to enhance fellowship between the congregations of the covenanting churches by enjoying a walk in each other’s company. Meet by the bandstand behind the Roundhay Fox to visit the Monet and Alhambra gardens on the other side of Mansion Lane and the garden that won a medal at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show. Then have a cup of tea or coffee at the café in the newly reopened Mansion. No boots, no mud!! Further details from Neil Parfitt.
FAIRTRADE STALL
There will be no Fairtrade stall this month. The next one will be on Sunday 6 September after the morning service. Thank you to everyone who supports the stall.
PROGRESSIVE CHRISTIANITY NETWORK
Please note that the next Saturday morning meeting at Chapel Allerton will be on 12 September. Newcomers, regulars and occasional visitors are always welcome. For directions, lifts or information please contact Sandra Griffiths or Diana Sutherland.
SUMMER CLEANING @ ST ANDREWS
It has been decided that this year we would not ask for the usual volunteers to help turn out each room and clean at St Andrew’s. Over the last 2 or 3 years we have achieved quite a bit of work and have given ourselves this summer off. So thanks to all who usually help – we will be asking again next year.

PARTNERSHIP VISIT
4-14 SEPTEMBER 2009
Friday 11 September
Activity Day at St Andrew’s
There is now a sheet up on the notice
board in the Car Park entrance for everyone who wants to join in any part of this day’s events to sign up to book their place. There will be a range of craft activities in the morning and afternoon, together with a music workshop in the afternoon and a walk for the more energetic. In the early evening there will be a barbecue, and lunch will be available for those staying all day. This should be a great informal way to get to know some of our German friends better – for full details see the notice.
Saturday 12 September
Grand Day Out to Whitby
If you want to join this trip and haven’t already handed in a completed form then please do so NOW! We need to decide whether a second coach is needed so if you delay, you may miss the bus, literally!
Sunday 13 September
Church Lunch
This will be a buffet and will provide yet another chance to eat and chat before the first of the German groups heads off to the airport for their return flight. Look out for further details.
For more information on these or anything to do with the visit please speak to Willie or Sheila Duncan, Sheana Dudley, Sandra Griffiths or Alex Jowitt.

BOOK AID
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
Rachel and Jane Murray are collecting unwanted new and second hand Bibles and Christian literature to send to Book Aid. Many Christians, churches, ministers and villages do not have access to a Bible, mainly because of the unaffordable cost of new books. In the past 21 years, Book Aid has shipped over 25 million books and Bibles to many areas. If you wish to donate any materials, please place them in the box in the car park entrance. For more information on Book Aid and their work, their web page is www.book-aid.org. Thank you for your support!
