Graduate Assistant for Club Sports
POSITION DESCRIPTION
2015-2016
10-MONTH POSITION BEGINNING AUGUST 1, 2015

Responsibilities:
- Assist with the coordination (supervision, training and leadership) of the Club Sports program, consisting of 40-50 Clubs (approximately 1,700 students).
- Assist with the administrative compliance of Club Sports including but not limited to rosters, waivers, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications, practice and competition schedules, budget request forms.
- Prepare and conduct Club Sport Officer Trainings.
- Input and update information on the departmental website.
- Organize individual club sport information and updated records.
- Send weekly emails to club presidents regarding deadlines, meetings, upcoming events and important information.
- Review weekly reports and address questions, comments, and concerns raised by Club Officers.
- Assist with the Club Sports budgeting including but not limited to: student activity fee budget proposal, club allocation hearing process and contingency allocations.
- Enforce Club Sports and Recreational Sports policies including but not limited to: risk management, discipline, travel procedures, facility usage, etc.
- Assist by taking a leadership role in employee recruitment, training, development of staff manuals, leading meetings and scheduling.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Maintain a current American Red Cross CPRO/AED and First Aid certification.
- Earned a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sport Management or related field; preferably two years of experience in a campus recreation program.
- Must have strong initiative, leadership skills, oral/written skills and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with Google Docs preferred.
- Experience with Social Media and Marketing preferred.
- Accepted into a graduate program at the University of Georgia.

Varying deadlines exist for all applications and it is the responsibility of the applicant to beware of these and apply accordingly.
Deadline to apply to the Graduate School is July 1, 2015 for domestic applicants to start classes for the Fall 2015 semester. However, specific graduate programs have separate deadlines (see example below). Applicants MUST be accepted into the Graduate School before they can be accepted into the degree program of their choice.

- Foods and Nutrition in the College of Family and Consumer Science: deadline to apply is December 5, 2014
- Exercise Science, Sport Management and Policy, or Physical Education in the Department of Kinesiology: January 10, 2015 for thesis or June 1, 2015 for non-thesis
- Higher Education Administration in the Institute for Higher Education: March 15, 2015
- Master of Public Health in the College of Public Health: Early deadline is January 2, 2015, regular deadline April 1, 2015
