ICASS Council Chair and DCM Recognition Awards

Instructions

The ICASS Council Chair (ICC) and Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Recognition Awards recognize the critical roles played by Council Chairs and DCMs in managing the ICASS process at post. Awards will be conferred on individuals who have stood out among their peers for being proactive and effective in making ICASS work.

Awards will be conferred on up to three DCMs and three ICCs each year. Each award will consist of a commendation letter to the Ambassador, a certificate, and a special honorary ICASS medal.

ELIGIBILITY: All DCMs and ICCs (of any agency) serving in that position for at least six months prior to nomination.

AWARD CRITERIA: Successful nominations should emphasize activities and accomplishments that demonstrated how the individual contributed to the successful management of post’s ICASS platform. Awards will be granted to individuals who, through collaboration and/or individual effort, took ICASS at post to a new level. While ICASS roles and responsibilities are ancillary duties for Council Chairs and DCMs, the success of the ICASS platform depends in large measure on their active support and participation. We want to recognize those individuals who take the time to understand the issues and engage all customer agencies in the ICASS process at post. Successful nominations should address, among other accomplishments, the use of the recommended schedule of meetings and suggested agenda items, the implementation of the annual assessment of services to identify strengths and weaknesses in the platform, and the establishment of a plan to address issues/problems.

NOMINATING PROCEDURES:

DCM Recognition Award nominations must be endorsed by someone other than the nominator. We suggest the ICASS Council Chair, an ICASS Council member, the Management Counselor/Officer, the Ambassador, or someone else with knowledge of the nominee’s work being recognized. ICC Recognition Award nominations may be nominated by anyone, but must be endorsed by post’s Management Officer/Counselor orDCM.

For either award, one individual may not be both nominator and endorser for a nomination.
