DEPUTY GRAND MARSHAL

Martin J. Ingram, Sr. is a native of Breezy Point. He was a lifeguard for the Rockaway Point Association (RPA) and at Riis Park. During his college years he was a volunteer firefighter at the Point Breeze Volunteer Fire Department and worked as Coach of Nazareth High School’s Varsity Swim Team. He is a retired US Air Force Helicopter Rescue Pilot. Marty’s career with the Air Force spanned thirty years and included assignments on Active Duty and in the Air National Guard and the Air Force Reserve. He retired in 2002 as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was designated as Mission Commander on several types of rescue aircraft and held key management positions as Helicopter Flight Commander and Wing Chief of Safety. Marty now serves in the New York State Militia as a Lieutenant Colonel assigned to the 88th Brigade (Irish Brigade) of the New York Guard. He also had a career as a Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Carrier Safety Inspector. His last assignment with the FAA was Assistant Division Manager for the Eastern Region Flight Standards Division.

Marty’s educational background includes an Associate of Arts degree from Kingsborough Community College, a Bachelor of Arts degree from St John’s University and a Master of Arts degree from the State University at Stony Brook. He is a graduate of St Francis de Sales and Nazareth High School.

Marty and his wife Nancy have four adult children (Brendan, Erin, MJ and Christopher). Nancy is a retired nurse. They have four grandchildren. He is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Commander of American Legion Post 1847. He is the Chief of the Point Breeze Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Breezy Point Cooperative Board of Directors. In 2009, he was appointed, by the Queens Borough President, to Community Board #14.
