Goals and Objectives

Strengthen USA Fencing’s financial management, reporting practices and procedures to provide greater transparency, oversight and execution to address systemic financial challenges

  • Implement USA Fencing comprehensive business process review and analysis, including finance and administration, marketing, international and domestic events, human resources, and membership.
  • Based on review and recommendations implement “best practices” and policies to govern operations and improve integration, connectivity and management of national office, committees, and volunteer base
  • Complete a rigorous search process for an Executive Director, based on the long and short term requirement, that can lead effectively and make USA Fencing a financially successful, highly regarded NGB, respected by the FIE, USOC, and Pan Am Confederation

Raise Profile of USA Fencing

  • Increase funding – package US Fencing’s phenomenal success, great athletes and national events to attract sponsorships and corporate partners
  • Provide better support and capitalize on growth in junior, veterans and wheelchair segments
  • Work with Fencing Officials Commission (FOC) to provide better support for referees and officials - critical component to growth of sport
  • Engage experienced and talented US Fencing alumnae to support USFA fundraising, growth, management and direction going forward

Create positive, useful relationships with USOC, Pan American Federations and FIE to position the USA Fencing as an impactful, well regarded NGB and Federation

  • Enhance USFA presence on FIE committees, reintroduce the FIE task force in the USFA, implement strategic plan for presence in the FIE.
  • Work with the national training director to implement an effective system for working with athletes, coaches, clubs, RYC’s and parents.
  • Find sponsors for World Cup events and prepare the organization to run events professionally and efficiently
  • Find a host city and sponsor for the 2015 World Championships and bid for them, especially as 2015 is a very strategic year leading into Rio Games.

Improve support for Clubs, Divisions, Sections and Grassroots programs to provide optimal economic benefits to membersand increase the membership base

  • Understand needs and requirements for strengthening Clubs and Programs -survey membership base to establish priorities and funding opportunities
  • Provide professional marketing support and materials
  • Review current structure to insure optimal support and a coherent direction going forward

  • BSE, Civil Engineering, Engineering Systems, Princeton University
  • IBM Trained Systems Engineer and Marketing Executive

  • Fortune 500 marketing and technology professional
  • Management consultant specializing in turnarounds, organizational transformation, and strategy
  • Entrepreneur focused on media, production, promotion and marketing – major focus on Fencing – CBS and ESPN Analyst and Commentator for NCAA Championships, announcer for NY World Cup, Co-Chair of Arnold Fencing Classic 2003 -2008
  • Not-For- Profit Leader – Executive Director of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s after school program in Columbus, Ohio, Board Member and Vice Chair

Former USFA National Secretary from 2000-2004:

  • Part of a successful administration that got Women’s SabreEvent into the Olympic Games
