KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

Mr. Rayo’s professional experience includes work in the areas of translation and simultaneous interpretation, as well as in demography, epidemiology, health statistics, burden of disease estimations, analysis of health systems, health planning, health needs assessments, design and review of monitoring and evaluation systems, data processing, project management and analysis, information management and implementation of GIS and other analysis techniques to support informed decision making. In the particular case of demography, his efforts have been focused on the Central American region and include: the demographic and epidemiologic transition and application of indirect techniques of demographic estimation and validation of international migration metrics. Mr. Rayo has been involved as consultant in projects related to HIV/AIDS and public health in Latin America and Eastern Europe. In addition, he has participated in the characterization of Nutrition Programs in Nicaragua, a burden of disease study carried out in Costa Rica, as well as in and the preparation of sections for studies on Health, Education, and Poverty for the World Bank in Costa Rica.

  • English Spanish Translation of a health insurance website and software for VoxBox, an Indian translation agency. July, 2011.
  • English-Spanish Translation of technical documentation for Elephant Talk.
  • English-Spanish Translation of the Rapid Survey Handbook, a document that not only offers technical information for the implementation of rapid surveys, but alsodescribes their power and advantages over other survey methods. This work was conducted for the Public Health Institute. 2009-2010.
  • English-Spanish Translation of the “Guidelines on Collecting and Managing Information on HIV/AIDS and Disability”. This work was conducted for the Central American Regional HIV/AIDS Project in 2010.
