HOMEWORK POLICY: Students are expected to check their homework using the answer keys on my blog. The next day we will work problems that students don’t understand. While homework is not a major grade, it is the foundation for success on tests and quizzes.

MAKE-UP POLICY: It is your responsibility to get all notes, homework, classwork, and any other items missed due to absence. Missed assignments may be obtained by visiting my Edublog or by referring to the agenda given out at the beginning of each unit. The link for my blog is http://cobblearning.net/melodystout/

ADVANCED CONTENT CLASSES: The curriculum and instructional strategies for this course are differentiated in content, pacing, process skills emphasis, and expectation of student outcomes from the typical 8th grade mathematics course. Curriculum content has been designed for mastery and extension of state and district content standards. The course is appropriate for students who have high achievement and interest in the advanced mathematics curriculum.

Students scoring below 70% on Summative assessments will be given remediation and the opportunity to reassess. If a student does not complete the remediation work assigned, reassessment is not an option. Grade recovery does not apply to End of Grade assessments.

NOTE: This syllabus is subject to change to meet the needs of students. Any changes that become necessary will be announced to students as far ahead as possible.
