Title:‘Incredible Years® and KiVa in Powys, MidWales’

Abstract:
Sue will talk about the strategic approach to the roll out of the Incredible Years® (IY) and KiVa programmesinPowys.ShewillsharetheresultsoftheKivaAnti-bullyingprogrammeandtheIYTeacher and Parent programmes in Powys. She will also talk about integration of the new IY ASD programme into the service pathway for children withASD.
JesswillfocusonstrategiesforengagingparentsinIYparentgroupsandillustratethiswithacasestudy from a Powysgroup.
Dr Sue Evans is Consultant Child Psychologist, Lead for Parenting and Children’s Social Competence Programmes with Powys Teaching Health Board (Powys THB). She is clinical and strategic lead for the Incredible Years® (IY) and other evidence- basedprogrammesinPowys,workingwithalloftheagenciesinPowys’Childrenand Young People’s Partnership. She has recently become an accredited IY trainer. For a number of years Sue has been an accredited Mentor in many of the IY programmes, includingtheIYBASIC,Infant,HomeCoachingandASDParentprogrammes,Teacher Classroom Management and Classroom Dina programmes. Sue regularly delivers a rangeofIYprogrammesherselfandofferstrainingandsupervisiontoothers,aspartofthelocalstrategic IY plan, to support delivery of the programmes with fidelity. Sue has visited Seattle a number of times and has worked with Professor Webster-Stratton on the IY Parent and Dina programmes and more recently on the IY ASD programme. Sue is also a trainer in the KiVa Anti-bullyingprogramme.
ShehasheldhercurrentpostwithPowysTHBsince2005andbeforethatworkedformanyyearsasan Educational Psychologist both in Powys and in England. Her doctoral work involved the development of solution focused, collaborative consultation groups forteachers.
Sue led the team that won the 2012 NHS Wales award for ‘Working SeamlesslyAcrossOrganisations’ indevelopingtheIYprogrammesinPowys.SueisanhonorarylectureratBangorUniversityandsupports training and research work across Wales linked with the Centre for Evidence Based EarlyIntervention.
JessCrumptonisaTraineeClinicalPsychologistinthefinalyearofdoctoraltraining in Clinical Psychology at Bangor University. She currently works with Dr Sue Evans in Powys and is involved in co-leading Incredible Years® groups; including the Baby, ToddlerandPre-schoolBASIC.Shehasexperience,bothintheUKandabroad,ofthe assessment and implementation of therapeutic interventions with a range of different clinicalpopulations,particularlychildrenandfamilies.Alongsideherclinicalworkshe iscurrentlyundertakingaresearchprojectwithGreatOrmondStreetHospitalexploring the psychological impact of caring for a child with atracheostomy.
