Thank you for your interest in the profession of Education. As you are aware, it is one of the most important
global professions. Our organization is committed to encouraging students who are preparing for careers
in Education. The provision of funds for this scholarship is an ongoing activity of our association. Listed below
is important information about the RCEA-R Scholarship.
Scholarship Description
The RCEA-R Scholarship is a one-time scholarship award of $1000.00. The recipient receives $500
per semester for one year.
Initial Eligibility Requirements
- Residency in Richland County, SC.
- Adequate progress toward the SC High School Diploma to be awarded at graduation ceremonies in June, 2018.
- An official acceptance to a South Carolina college or university (public or private).
- A plan to pursue a major in education.
- A cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0 or higher.
- A record of participation in school, community, and/or public service activities while in high school (grades9-12).
Complete Application Packet Contents
1. Completed RCEA-R Application Form
2. Official High School Transcript (with seal)
3. SAT and ACT Test scores (scores affixed to official High School transcript are acceptable)
4. A copy of an official letter of acceptance from a South Carolina college or university (public or private)
5. Two letters of recommendation, one from a high school teacher in a recent core curriculum course and
one from a guidance counselor, teacher, administrator, activity advisor, or coach. (no relatives, please)
- An up-to-date resume which may include extra-curricular activities, public service experiences, work
experience, leadership experiences, honors and awards.
- A typed essay addressing the applicant's interest in a career in Education and the applicant's financial need for scholarship assistance.
Application Instructions
- Please be sure to complete your application in its entirety.
- Please be sure to include all seven of the above Application Packet Contents. (Incomplete applications
will not be considered)
- Collate your application in the 1-7 order listed above.
- Applications have a postmark deadline of May 7, 2018. (Late applications will not be considered)
