Internship Organization Responsibilities:
- The Career Development Centerstaff regardyour internship application process, including submission of a cover letter and resume, and an interview, to be an important part of the students’ professional development.
- Organizations are asked to interview acceptable applicants prior to the beginning of each semester.Saint Anselm College does not screen candidates for compatibility for a particular position.
- If there are prerequisites to a student working at your site (e.g. medical or security clearance) the College requests that organizations disclose these to each applicant no later than during the interview.
- The Career Development Center staff reserve the right to deny site approval if the internship does not meet requirements.
- The Career Development Center staff reserve the right to end the internship at any time if violations of the agreement or the law occur.
- This Academic Internship Agreement mustbe completed prior tothe beginning of the internship.
- Organizations contribute to the grading process by completing two intern evaluation forms, one mid-term and one final evaluation, provided by the Career Development Center staff during the course of the semester.
- Internships should begin the second week of classes in order for students to complete the required number of hours for the semester.
- Organizations are required to provide orientation and training.
- Organizations are required to provide an identified internship supervisor and the supervisor is asked to provideon-going supervision and frequent feedback to interns.
- Organizations should contact the Career Development Centerstaff immediately about any problems involving student attendance or performance. It is important that issues are resolved early in the semester to ensure a successful internship experience for both the organization and student.
- Organizations are to provide liability insurance for students, as they would for any employee or volunteer at their organization.
- Organizations in New Hampshire are required to submit the Approval Form for Non-Paid Work-Based Activities under RSA 279:22-aa to the New Hampshire Department of Labor. Access the NH Department of Labor websiteto download the “Approval Form for Non-Paid Work-Based Activities”:
- For-profit organizations, please be aware of the Fair Labor Standards Act and the U.S. Department of Labor Fact Sheet #71 (
Student Responsibilities:
- Students are required to successfully complete the academic components required for internship credit.
- Students must complete the required number of hours at the organization during the semester,and are also responsible for making appropriate arrangements for school and religious holidays. Students will report to supervisors any lateness or absences in a prompt, professional manner and they will make up any missed hours.
- Students must maintain professional standards of confidentiality regarding matters pertaining to their internship experiences and are expected to follow the highest standards of academic honesty and integrity.

Saint Anselm College’s Responsibilities:
- The College will review and monitor academic and administrative matters pertaining to the internship program.
- The College will provide an orientation for students at the beginning of each semester.
- The College will conduct site visits, when needed or requested, at the respective organizations.
- The College will provide a designated faculty or staff member to grade students.
