INTRODUCTION

This risk assessment is for the primary purpose of assessing the level of risk attached to each asset owned by Sutton St Edmund Parish Council as listed in the Asset Register. It serves as a general risk assessment and high-lights required maintenance actions if required.

PLAYGROUND

The playground is visually assessed by a member of the Parish Council on a monthly basis during the winter months and 2 weekly in summer with the assessment is recorded. Any remedial maintenance actions are reported to the next council meeting and scheduled for repair. The grass on the playground area and playing field is regularly cut. The main causes of risk would be due to personal injury due to inadequate maintenance of the site and equipment. With the inspection and maintenance regime in place the risk is assessed as low to medium.

BUS SHELTER

The bus shelter is a concrete self contained building as such the risk due to personal injury is low. A visual inspection should be carried out once per year and recorded in the risk register.

PHONE KIOSK

The phone kiosk houses the parish defibrillator and is assessed as medium risk due to the potentially life threatening situation requiring use of the defibrillator itself. Therefore a separate detailed risk assessment is maintained for this item.

LITTER & DOG BINS

The binsare assessed as a low risk. Once per annum the item should be visually inspected to ensure proper working order is maintained and the result recorded in the risk register.

WAR MEMORIAL

The grass surrounding the memorial presents a low risk of personal injury. The grass should therefore be regularly cut and inspected. The item overall is assessed as low risk.

VILLAGE SIGN

This item should be inspected annually and the result recorded in the risk register. The inspection should ensure it is fixed securely. It is assessed as a low risk.

NOTICE BOARDS (FOUR)

This item should be inspected annually and the result recorded in the risk register. The inspection should ensure it is fixed securely. It is assessed as a low risk.

GRIT BIN

This item should be inspected annually and the result recorded in the risk register. The inspection should ensure it is working properly. It is assessed as a low risk.

ALLOTMENTS

These items are primarily the responsibility of the tenant on a day to day basis. An annual inspection to ensure adequate condition is recommended. The item is assessed as low risk.

PRINTER, SHREDDER AND LAPTOP

These items are located at the Clerk’s premises and as such the Clerk is required to inform Council of any risk. The item is assessed as low risk.
