We are a specialist three partner firm of accountants, based in Manchester, working throughout the North of England, providing audit, accountancy and other services to the voluntary sector. You would be joining a team where the partners and most of the staff have some experience in the not-for-profit sector and who are committed to working in the sector. Job Description: Bookkeeping Manager
To manage the ongoing provision of client services including
· book-keeping services
· management accounts and reports
· preparation of budgets
· preparation and submission of VAT returns
· preparation and submission of client gift aid claims
· training in Quickbooks
· training in book keeping/management accounts/budgeting
· dealing with client enquiries
· Company secretarial and other services
To undertake some of the work but also train, supervise and manage others providing these services.
To develop this area of client services including promotion and marketing, dealing with enquiries, meeting prospective clients, preparation of tenders and costing work.
Required qualifications etc
Accountancy at least to AAT
Detailed knowledge of Quickbooks
Experience of completing VAT returns
Experience in managing other people and their performance
Experience of training others
Good communication and negotiation skills
Experience of developing and maintaining good client relationships
Good time and resource management skills
Knowledge/experience in the voluntary sector
Desirable
Experience of presenting management reports
Experience of payroll/PAYE
Knowledge of data protection requirements
Driving license

Terms and Conditions – Bookkeeping Manager
Holiday 20 days per year plus statutory days (pro rata)
Hours of Work Office hours are 9.00am to 5.00pm, but client commitments permitting, you may be able to work flexibly around this. Our standard working week is 35 hours, this post is for 17.5 hours. We all complete timesheets, so if you work overtime this will be recorded.
Overtime We do not expect employees to work overtime, but you may find that you do extra hours, you can then take time off later.
Notice of holiday We need plenty of advance notice of holidays, especially if they will be longer than one week.
Salary rates Salary from £23-26,000 pro rata according to experience
