ROYAL AIR FORCE GOLF ASSOCIATION PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIP 2015
COMPETITION
1. The 2015 Royal Air Force Golf Association (RAFGA) Pairs Championship, sponsored by the RAFGA Membership Scheme (MS) will take place at Studley Wood GC (Sat Nav OX33 1BF ) on Thu 6 Aug 15.
ELIGIBILITY
2. The RAFGA Pairs Competition is open to all current MS members with an active handicap, issued by either a recognised golf club or their station, iaw the RAFGA Handicap Policy. Pairs may be gents, ladies or mixed. As the competition is subsidised by the MS, all players must be members of the scheme[1].
FORMAT
3. The RAFGA Pairs Championship will be played over 36 holes as follows:
a. Morning - 18 holes 4BBB - 3/4 of each player’s handicap.
b. Afternoon - 18 holes Foursomes - Half the combined handicap.
4. Each pairs morning and afternoon scores will be added together to decide the winners as follows:
1st, 2nd and 3rd handicap.
1st and 2nd scratch.
Best AM handicap score.
Best PM handicap score.
5. In the case of a tie, places will be decided on count-back as follows: best 4BBB score and then the best score on last 9, 6, 3 holes and then final hole of the pairs’ 4BBB score, based on holes 10-18, irrespective of the order of play. If there is still a tie, then the same countback process will apply for the last 9, 6, 3, and final hole of the pairs’ Foursomes score. If scores are still tied, a sudden-death play off will be undertaken.
ENTRY
6. Pairs are to submit their entry, together with requisite payment, using the format at Annex A. The closing date for receipt of entries is detailed on the entry form and entries received after these dates will only be accepted if the event is undersubscribed. If the event is oversubscribed, then pairs will be balloted out using the ‘last in, first out’ basis.
RULES
7. Play will be iaw the R&A Rules of Golf; the decision of the Championship Committee is final. Handicap allowances will be in accordance with the RAFGA handicap policy and allowance will be worked out and players informed at registration.
COSTS
8. The cost for the event is £60 per pair (£30 each) and covers green fees, catering and prizes; cheques are to be made payable to ‘RAF Golf Association’.
CATERING
9. Catering will include coffee & bacon roll upon arrival, rolling carvery lunch and sandwiches/chips after the 2nd round.
DRESS
10. Dress on the course and in the Clubhouse is normal golfing attire ie. no denim clothing or collarless shirts. Appropriate footwear is to be worn at all times, both on the course and in the Clubhouse.
TEE TIMES AND REGISTRATION
11. Tee times and registration details will be issued in due course to those who have entered. 1st round will commence at 0800hrs; pairs' registration will be open from 0700hrs.
ACCOMMODATION
12. Individuals should make their own arrangements for accommodation; whilst service accommodation can be used for serving personnel, there is no entitlement to accommodation from public funds, if service accommodation is not available.
INSURANCE
13. As all players have to be members of the MS due to the MS sponsoring the event, all players are covered for Third Party Public Liability Insurance.
TRAVEL AUTHORITY
14. Cost of travel is admissible within the United Kingdom for nominated personnel in accordance with JSP 752, Chapter 4, Section 2 using DSB(RAF)/299000/14/3/1276/AF dated 10 Dec 14 as authority. This reference is to be quoted on all warrants and claims together with your Station/Unit UIN. OICs are reminded that they must seek prior approval from their UIN Budget Holder before making travel arrangements that will result in a JPA claim.
ETIQUETTE/CARE OF THE COURSE
15. It is incumbent on all players to observe the highest standards of etiquette whilst participating in RAFGA competitions. Players are requested to respect the Club’s traditions and observe golf’s courtesies. In particular, please refrain from making practice swings on the tees and keep all trolleys off tees and away from the areas between greens and greenside bunkers. Please replace all divots, rake bunkers, avoid climbing up or down the bunker faces, keep up with the game in front, call groups through at the correct time and have respect for your playing partners.
SAFETY
16. The host Golf Club has a Health & Safety policy in place for its visitors. All players will be required to sign a declaration at registration declaring that they have read the RAF Safety Management System, that they are medically fit to participate in the event and that they are aware of their responsibilities to not exceed MT drivers hours and, if necessary, players are to book local military accommodation to avoid non-compliance. All accidents are to be reported to an official on the day who will ensure a F7454 accident form is raised. The RAF Golf Safety Management System is available on the RAFGA website.
