-Be on task at all times. Do not talk during class instruction, quizzes, or exams

  1. Grading Framework

Planner – 5%, Minor Grades 35%, Major Grades 60%

  1. Homework

Homework will be assigned daily.Homework will not be taken up or checked for a grade. Homework is your chance to practice the skills and concepts presented in class. Weekly quizzes will be modeled off problems included in the homework, so it is to your advantage to complete every homework problem each week.

  1. Weekly Quizzes

The majority of the quizzes will be short, timed quizzes designed to assess your mastery of 2-3 skills or concepts that have been discussed in class, and over which homework has been assigned.

  1. Writing Activities

Occasionally you will be assigned a short writing prompt to review concepts previously taught, introduce new concepts, or summarize lesson videos. These writing prompts may count for quiz grades and will help you better understand the AP curriculum.

  1. Group Assignments

These assignments are also called Team Exams. The teacher will determine who is in each group, and each group member will submit an assignment. One paper in each group will be graded at random, so it is important that each member turn in a completed paper. If you are absent, you should plan to do the assignment independently upon return. These assignments will count as a major grade.

  1. Calculators

Calculators will be assigned to each student in the classroom. These calculators can be used for in-class work, and must be used for assessments, so that the student does not have to bring his/her own calculator to school if so desired. The student is responsible for any damage to the calculator, or if the calculator is not returned at the end of class.

  1. Communication

Parent-teacher communication is vital for the success of your student. Email is preferable due to being in multiple classrooms throughout the day. You can reach me r I am available for face-to-face conferences during 6th period. Please allow for 24 hours’ notice prior to any conference.

  1. Student’s responsibilities after an absence

Every effort should be made to notify me of a planned absence ahead of time. This way we can prepare a plan together and make the necessary preparations.

  1. Permian Late Work Policy

- 25 pts. per School Day, after 2 days, it’s a zero and will not be accepted

  1. Permian Re-Do Policy

Re-do an attempted failed assignment for a maximum grade of 75 on the 2nd attempt. Re-dos must be done within 5 days from the day the assignment is returned to the student.
