a.Overall season - things went well
b.CIF - addition of umpires went well. Finals improved over prelims.
Need umpire at finish line.
c.Please note in preseason bulletin that coaches need to fill out starter evaluations after each home meet.
CIF Concerns: Mostly Prelims and finals issue.
a.Discussion over how the divisions are determined. Currently the ratio is 40%/60% D1/D2 with a natural break. Chris Ruff will look into numbers and come back with a possible proposal.
b.In CIF Prelims a tie in the horizontals for 9th place, the tie will not be broken; both will be move onto finals. In addition, if it is a tie for the 9th place into the A Flight, both will move into the A Flight.
c.In CIF Prelims in the verticals, if there are ties that have the field anywhere between 9 and 12, all will advance to finals. Tie breaker rules will only be used to reduce the field to 12 or less.
d.Discussion on whether an athlete from the "B heat/flight can qualify for the state meet. It was suggested that this would occur only if the person in the "B heat/flight" made the state auto mark and that all 3 of the athletes in the "A heat/flight" also made the state auto mark.
e. Because of the tactics in the distance races, it was suggested that the heat winner heat winner in each of the 1600m races advance to the "A heat" and that the top two in each heat of the 3200m advance to the "A heat". In the 800m only the top time in D1 and in D2 advance to the "A heat". The remaining places are determined by time only.
In a through e above we will discuss again at the preseason meeting.
f.With new leagues being created. Each league automatically qualifies the league champion in each event.
g.It is suggested that invitational weigh and measure shots and discs. It was also suggested that an early invite measure shots and discs so that coaches can determine which of their implements do not pass.
