Points willbeallocated to placesin eachclassandexerciseswiththehighestnumber of points winningtheoverallwin onspot on theteam.Eliminations gainnopoints. Contactequipmentwillbe rubberandjumpsused will beplastic.Exerciseperformance will bejudged onability andspeedcriteria plussuccess.

JumpHeight/DogHeight

There are fourqualifyingheight divisions,sothat dogs competeagainst dogs ofasimilarheight.Dogs

maycompeteinadivisionlarger than theactualdog’sheight,butcannotcompetein alower division. Example: Adogwhichmeasures450mmmayenter& competeinthe650 division,but cannot competein the400division.

All dogswantingtocompete below the650 classmustobtainanofficialmeasurement(oralready haveanofficialWAOmeasurement)Intheeventofadifferentmeasure(totheonethatwascompetedaton theselection day) youwill unfortunatelyloseyourplace.

Dogs that haveautomatically qualified forthe2016event mustentertheselection dayifwant to be consideredforothereventsthat theydid notwina podiumspot for.

For2016 theWAOplan tocontinuetoallow eachcountry torun3(three)dogs in eachheight

Foreachevent.If, however,theyhavealarge number of new countrieswantingto

Temperamenttests maybe required at the selection weekend to deemthe suitabilityofthe dogwith humans and other dogs.

OverallWinnersineachheightandgainingqualification to theteamwillbeannounced at theendof theday. Onewin onspot(for theBiathlonclasses) will begained with the combined result from class1and2.ThePentathlonwin onspots will begainedfrom thecombinationof thepoints from the3classesandexercisesin total.

NB:Themanagement reservetheright toamendtheformatandquantityofrunsdependantonthe

number of entries forthe day. Any changeswillbecommunicatedshortlyafter theclosingdate, throughvariousweb-sites;includingFacebook &UKA’s webpage.

Scoring Matrix

1st Place= 10 points

2nd Place = 5 points

3rd Place= 4 points

4th Place = 3 points

5th Place = 2 points

All places below this clear, within course time will receive 1 point, elimination scores 0 points

ThewildcardspotsshouldbecommunicatedannouncedassoonaspossibleaftertheQualifying event.Managementdecisionsinconsultation withWAO are final

It is expected that dogs to be considered will attend the try out day for team Wales, only in exceptional circumstances agreed with the management will dogs be picked without attending

RunningOrders &Scoring

Runningordersforallroundswill bearandomdraw, howeverifahandlerrunningmore than one dogbedrawnconsecutively theywill bemovedforward2placesif the numberallows.Scoringfor the first2 classeswillbebased on clearrounds only,i.e. faultswill not beaddedtotimehowever points willbeawarded toalldogsnot eliminated (asat theactualevent). Classes3and4willbe cumulative; faults are addedtotime,andthelowestscore/timewins inall aspectsof theseclasses. Ifeliminationisincurred,no pointscan begainedand100faults/time willbeadded. Management decisionsonperformanceare final.

CollarsLeads

Dogs mustnotwearanytypeofsliporhalf-sliplead,halfcollar,muzzle, harnessorcollar whilecompeting.

 Stoppadprotectorsmay bewornby adogifapproved by theselectioneventmanagement.

 Leads willbetaken fromcompetitorsby aringstewardandplacedat theexitof theringina

container.Onlythe handlermayretrievetheirleadfromthiscontainer.

 Electric collarsmaynot be usedanywhereat theselectionweekend.

Timing & EquipmentFailure Procedure

Ifduringacompetitors run,the timingfails,thecompetitorwillrerunagainhoweverallfaults fromthe first run willcount.

 Intheeventofare-run,thejudgemustdeemthatthehandlerhasmadeatrueand

sportsmanlikeeffortto completethe course correctly oradditionalfaultscanbeadded.

TeamSelection

There are twoways in whichadogcan beselected:

Automatic Places

Theoverallwinnerin eachofthefourheightcategories(up to8dogs),willautomaticallybeselected tocompeteforTeamWalesandwillbeallocated tocompeteineventsthey havewon (Biathlonor Pentathlon)orboth. (Grades6-7)

Wild CardPlaces

Thefinalsquadplaceswill beselectedby theWalesselectioncommittee,StuartHarmes (Team

Manager),Martin Cavill(Assistant Manager).

Only dogsenteredatthequalifiereventwillbe considered(unlessinsufficient/unsuitable dogsare entered,by which the Management will have thefinalsay in thechosen dogs).

Theselectioncommittee will belookingathandlerexperienceand thedog’sexperience, performance/resultsfromthedayand performanceatbothUKAandKC eventsoverthepast 12 months.Please complete the HandlermatrixsenttoyouASAPand return

What Happens Next?

Ifyouare unfortunateandmiss out onan automatic spotinthesquad,youmaystillbesuccessfulin

the wildcard selection process.

Ifyou aresuccessful, congratulations!! Youwillbesent,viaemail,further detailsof theWAOevent andthepracticesessionsorganised,tomakethisthebestWelsh teampossible.

Inreturn,weexpectallhandlersto commit totheorganisedpracticesessions wherepossible.There

will beonecompulsorysessionwhichmust beattended.

Reserves

Ifyouare fortunatetogainareservespot,you will beautomatically invitedtoattendany squad practicesessions & willbeincludedin allcommunication fromthemanagement.

Cost

Althoughevery effort will bemadebythemanagementtogainsponsorshiptofulfilexpenses; (entry fees, clothingetc) competitorsmayhavetopay theirpersonalexpensesfortheevent andany squad trainingcostsincurred.

Wewouldrequestandexpectallhandlerstoparticipateinanyfundraisingactivitiesrequiredby the Wales Management Teamandencourage fundraisingtoassist withtravelling,vet and accommodationcosts.
