WELCOME TO SECOND GRADE!
To My New Students,
Welcome to Second Grade! I am very excited to have you in my class next year and I am already looking forward to seeing you in September. We are going to have a great year together!
I hope you have a wonderful summer. Enjoy sleeping in and all those fun summer activities and trips. However, in August when you start to get the “school itch”, here is a suggested summer shopping list to help you get ready for the upcoming school year. Put your name on everything. Please do not buy any supplies that are too big to fit into your desk.
SUMMER SHOPPING LIST
· One pencil box
· One Extra Large/Jumbo Book Sock.
· A marble notebook
· A spiral notebook (Writer’s Notebook)
· A supply of #2 pencils
· 1 box of crayons
· 2-3 highlighters
· 6 red pens and 6 blue pens
· 2 large glue sticks
· Several erasers
· A pair of scissors
· A large old t-shirt (Art Smock)
· 1 pack of Dry Erase Markers (i.e. Expo 4 color set)
· 1 dark sock (an eraser for our white boards)
· A set of fine point markers
· A pack of colored pencils
· Last name A – F : quart-sized ziplock baggies
· Last name F – L : gallon-sized ziplock baggies
· Last name M – Z: 1 roll of paper towels
· 6 3X3 Post-it pads
· A copy of Frog and Toad are Friends by Arnold Lobel for the 1st
week of school reading activities.
In addition, I have attached a brown paper bag. I would like you to put items in the bag that would tell your new classmates about you (what you like to do for fun, pictures of places you’ve been, etc.) We will share these bags the first few days of school to get to know one another.
We are going to have a fantastic year. Please talk to me when you have something to share, when you don’t understand what we are doing, or when you are upset. I will listen very carefully. Enjoy your summer vacation!
