Office 365 ProPlus Click-to-Run and

Office on Demand Demos

TargetLength:10 Minutes

Core requirements/assumptions:

  • Windows 7 or Windows 8 PC with 6Mbps broadband connection to the Internet (you can usephysical or virtual machines – use Windows 8 x64 Hyper-V with snapshots to reset or move between the Click-to-Run and Office on Demand demo or have two virtual machines set up)
  • Office 2003, 2007 or 2010 is installed – with an Office add-in or two (don’t use the Ribbon Hero add-ins) – try Mathematics add-in from Microsoft Download Center. Office 2010 is recommended, but you can use anything 2003 or newer.
  • Office 365 E3 tenant already created along with Karen Berg user account
  • Office 365 ProPlus is not already installed (the demos are about installing it)
  • Karen Berg is a user account (not an administrator) and has been provisioned rights to use desktop apps

Core demo scenario:

Karen Berg works in Sales for Contoso. She often switches between multiple computers and sometimes needs to share PCs with others while in the Office or when she leaves her laptop at home. Karen is very productive and doesn’t like to wait.

Note: It makes sense to show one of these two demos, but normally it won’t make sense to show both in the same demo set.

Features and concerns addressed:

  • Click-to-Run and side-by-side Office version support means you don’t need to uninstall your old Office
  • Karen has an older version of Office is installed
  • Karen isn’t sure if she has the old copy of Office and license key to reinstall if needed
  • She is worried about her files not working and has some Office add-ins loaded that she is afraid won’t work
  • Click-to-Run application streaming using means no more waiting for Office to download then to install
  • Karen hates to wait and the last thing she wants to do is spend 30 minutes downloading and 15 minutes installing Office
  • She wants to use her Office apps quickly
  • Every Office 365 ProPlus user can install and manage up to 5 installs of Office on all their PCs
  • Karen has multiple PCs and sometimes cycles through PCs
  • She needs to be able to add or remove PCs as part of 5 installs she can have
  • Your personal settings and links to recent files roam with you on all of your PCs
  • Karen doesn’t always know where she saved her files
  • She doesn’t want to deal with version control issues it should just work.
  • She wants to be able to easily switch between PCs and resume where she left off
  • Office on Demand lets you instantly stream a single Office app temporarily to any Windows 7 or Windows 8 PC
  • Karen loves the Office Web Apps, but often wants the full-featured Office app on PCs she uses temporarily

Demo Talk and Click Track

Talk Track / Click Track

I’m excited to show you how the new release of Office provides a next generation, enterprise-class productivity experience for our customers on Windows 7 and Windows 8.
First, we’ll spend some time with Karen Berg, a sales professional at Contoso. She often switches between multiple computers and sometimes needs to share PCs with others. Karen is very productive and doesn’t like to wait.
Click-to-Run Streaming Installation
The Office team has made many optimizations around Office to make sure that users Karen can get a new Office experience on all of their PCs without waiting. This extends from Karen and her personal computers all the way to the Enterprise admin who installs on hundreds of PCs. Let me show you some of the key benefits and how this works.
Contoso is just finishing up their migration to Windows 7 and some of their PCs have older versions of Office installed. While the new Office is best on Windows 8, it is also designed to be an exceptional experience on Windows 7 and you don’t need to worry about your files or customizations not working, because not only did the Office team build the new Office to simply work with older files – even Office ’97 files – but users like Karen can also keep their older Office applications installed as a fallback in case they do happen to find something that doesn’t work as expected. This means Karen’s IT staff at Contoso doesn’t need to delay their new Office deployment in order to test their files and add-ins.
Karen has her standard issue Contoso IT laptop with Windows 7 Enterprise and Office Enterprise 2007. I’m just going to open up Excel 2007, because not only am I able to have both versions of Office installed in a few minutes, but as a busy user like Karen, I can even keep working while the new Office streams to my PC. This is huge for IT departments who need to manage mobile PCs and service them during business hours when users are connected to their network.
Now let’s put the new Office on this laptop and I will even stream it from the Office 365 cloud. In order to do that, my admin gave me an account in Office 365 and I will sign in to install Office. I click on the Install Office tile, then request the latest version.
Here I can see everywhere I have Office 365 ProPlus installed and if I want to transfer one of my five installs from an old PC to a new one, I can do that here, In this case we want to install Office on this laptop. I can select the language and the recommended 32-bit version – even though my Windows PC here is 64-bit.
Office is already streaming in the background. There is a short start experience to learn a little about the new features, let Karen apply her personal theme, and introduce her to SkyDrive. Let’s take a look at what’s new. I can launch PowerPoint in this case instantly while Office is still streaming in the background. Even though the install isn’t finished, I can already start using the apps. In fact the Office apps will even prioritize the features getting installed based on how Karen uses them for the first time. It will stream the parts she needs first, then load the other apps and features while she is working. In this case Karen has PowerPoint running just a minute or so after kicking off the installation. And once it is done streaming, she can disconnect from the Internet and have full-featured Office apps running. In the old days (Office 2010) she would have to spend about 30 minutes downloading Office and another 15 minutes installing it, here it was ready to use in less than 2 minutes. She is signed into Office and the links to her recent files are there, Word knows the page she left off with the last time she was working, her dictionary is there and she can she is logged in with her name, photo and personal theme.
Remember, we still have Excel 2007 running, so Karen could install Office or her administrator could install it in the background without Karen having to stop working or losing progress on her work. Future software updates work the same way, they will just load in the background without forcing her to close her Office apps and the things she’s working on.
So it’s your modern Office, your way, without waiting and without worrying. You own it, you can transfer it from PC to PC and all of your settings and files can roam with you across all the devices you use. / Move to Windows 7/Office 2003/2007/2010 PC.

Office on Demand
Office on Demand is an exciting new Office feature that lets you use full-featured Office applications on any Windows 7 or Windows 8 PC.
Karen’s workplace at Contoso uses shared computers and has invested a lot in Intranet applications and virtual desktop infrastructure. On occasion, Karen will also borrow her husband’s work PC or use friends’ PCs to check her email in the Outlook Web App and sometimes she will use other Office Web Apps on these PCs if she has to turn around a document quickly. Her husband’s work PC has old versions of Windows and Office she often gets frustrated that his company doesn’t have the newer software. If only she could use the new Office applications temporarily on her husband’s PC or on shared computers at work then she would get a modern experience with full-featured Office apps.
Now I can have a great experience using the Office Web Apps and if I need more editing capabilities, I can stream down the individual Office program instantly to my Windows PC. / On a Windows 7 or newer PC without Office 365 ProPlus or Office Professional Plus 2013 installed and you will need to pre-create a few documents if they are not already provisioned via the demo content pack…
Log in to Office 365 Preview
Click on SkyDrive
Go to a file of your choice (Word, Excel or PowerPoint)
Open the file, the Web App will load
Click the Edit button and select Edit in Word/PowerPoint/Excel
If another version of Office is already installed, then you will see a dialog asking if you want to use the old Office or Office 2013, Select Office 2013
Watch the application stream down
Notes to demoer: Run through the scenario once prior to showing on a new computer. It will ask you to load an ActiveX control to enable the scenario to work. For extra material with technical audiences, you can show click on IE9/10 settings gear and click Manage Add-ons. This scenario also works with the Internet Explorer Windows 8 App and will transfer you to the desktop once you launch the streaming component.
To reset the demo, open Task Manager and kill any roamingoffice.exe or integratedoffice.exe and delete the “Microsoft Office 15” folder from the C:\users\username directory.

You own it, you can transfer it from PC to PC and all of your settings and files can roam with you across all the devices you use.We are really excited about how this release of Office will help our customers unlock their full potential to communicate and collaborate, and we can’t wait to show you more.
