CAMBRIDGE MARKETING INTERNSHIP FOR CONSERVATION

This opportunity is offered to a young conservationist or recent graduatewith a strong interest in wildlife conservation to acquire professional marketing skills, through work experience and study, to further their career in conservation communications.
The internship is on a VOLUNTEER basis. You will work for a wildlife NGO and study for a marketing qualification. There is flexibility to do this FULL TIME (6 months) or PART TIME (one year).
JOB DESCRIPTION
Cambridge is uniquely the hub of the largest cluster of conservation organisations in the world. You will be based at the Conservation Campus in the heart of Cambridge, where many members of the Cambridge Conservation Forum are based in the pioneering David Attenborough Building (DAB).
As a marketing intern, you will work on communications projects with a focus on saving endangered species and their habitats. These projects are coordinated by Biodiversity Business, a social enterprise dedicated to creating shared value for biodiversity and business. You will be involved in marketing communications such as preparing marketing materials (online and offline), assist in the creation of marketing campaigns, handling social media, collecting and analyzing of marketing data.
Since most of the conservation projects are based in South East Asia, you also have the option of going there to gain valuable field experience. (Accommodation and board provided, but travel for intern’s own account).
QUALIFICATION
The internship is sponsored by Cambridge Marketing College, the leading marketing college in Europe providing professional qualifications and courses in marketing and PR. The intern will be enrolled to gain the CIM Chartered Institute of Marketing Certificate in Professional Marketing. This is an internationally recognised CIM qualification. The course taught by Cambridge Marketing College is the degree level qualification for those relatively new to marketing and introduces delegates to the fundamentals of marketing, digital marketing and marketing communications. The course consists of three modules: MARKETING, DIGITAL MARKETING and INTEGRATED COMMUNICATIONS.
DURATION
The internship will start from 1 April 2017, and you will start the classes for the first module (Marketing) on 24th April (Every Monday evening from 6 - 8 pm for 8 weeks until 12 June).
For the FULL TIME option, you can expect to work about 20 hours a week for the first 3 months and the rest will be study time. During the second half, you will study for the Digital Marketing module and your working hours will be focused on preparing an integrated marketing plan for the Integrated Communications Module.
If you choose to go abroad for the second part of the internship, then you can study the modules through distance learning and your field work will involve a marketing plan for the local conservation project. There is a large variety of conservation projects supported by Biodiversity Business, ranging from protecting the critically endangered Malayan Tiger to patrolling nesting sea turtles.
