Use the American Psychological Association (APA)Publication Manual (5th edition).

Font

Use Times New Roman font, 12 point, throughout the paper.

Bold format may be used only as specified by the style manual chosen. (In APA style, bold is rarely used.)

Italics may be used only as specified by the APA Manual. In general, italics are used for titles of books and journals (typically used in the reference section), sub-headings, and to indicate foreign words.

Spacing

Use double-spacing for the entire document (very rare exceptions and use only when specified by the APA Manual.)

Extended direct quotations(40 words or more)should be presented consistent with the APA Manual.

There should be no extra spacing (double spacing everywhere) between paragraphs or sections.

The CHAPTER should begin on a new page.

Margins and Indentations

Margins are one and one–half inches on the left (binding edge) and one inch on the right. Top and bottom margins are one inch also.

Paragraph indentations should be uniform five spaces or one-half inch.

Pagination

Page number should begin with 1 [Arabic digit one] on the first page of CHAPTER 2 and continue without interruption through the REFERENCE section.

The page numbers should be centered at the bottom of each page.

Chapter Formatting

The CHAPTER should be labeled using the following illustrations – in all caps and centered:

2. type in each reference with no line returns until the end of each reference where you would press “Enter” for a line return.
