Medical Assisting Instructor

Qualifications:

·  Minimum of an Associate’s degree in medical assisting or nursing or a health field related to medical assisting.

·  The degree must be from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university; some college or specialized training with emphasis on demonstrated competencies and achievements in medical assisting;

·  Minimum of three years of full-time, paid, work experience. Able to work flexible hours at multiple locations to include day and evening activities.

·  Able to manage multiple and competing priorities; able to participate in assigned staff development and campus activities.

·  Able to develop and evaluate lesson plans, direct and assess students’ progress in achieving required competencies; able to handle administrative responsibilities related to scheduling and teaching of courses;

·  Demonstrate good communication skills with a positive attitude and strong organizational skills.

·  Certified or eligible for certification (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) as a medical assistant within a specified period of time.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other health field from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university: Teaching experience preferred. R.M.A. Certified

Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, the Medical Assisting Instructor will prepares lesson plans for classroom and clinical instruction for credited technical/occupational courses, which will include:

·  Responsible for the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of the Medical Assisting diploma program.

·  Develops program curriculum, syllabi, goals, objectives; evaluates students’ progress to assist in achieving career goals and objectives.

·  Will assist with semester registration, orientation activities, semi-annual graduation events, and campus activities.

·  Assist in recruitment, retention, and job placement of students.

·  Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests;

·  Maintains program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate.

·  Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports;

·  Attends professional development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences;

·  Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the discipline area;

·  Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues.

·  Responsible for maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field; maintain an advisory committee, and works closely with health occupational instructors at the secondary level.

·  Position may require committee and project assignments as well as day/evening classes and activities.

Salary/Benefits:

Additional Information: This is a professional position in higher education, exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and requires a minimum work week of 40 hours.
