District Committee Meeting Minutes
January 19, 2017

- Gail Approves, all agree – Jeff Mathis speaks on behalf of Land saying he has done a great job in the Pack.
- JTE – Brian Glover / Lee Smathers
- Lee – Described our position as a district. Our membership hurt us this year but we did well in all the other categories.
- Brian – Followed up saying nothing to be upset about but happy about instead.
- John Gollner asked about how market share is counted.
- Elliott – Asked about community service hours and why it was down.
- Units have not been logging their hours

- Land Rowland joined the district committee member at large.

- Brian – I would like to challenge everybody to obtain three more people for your committees by next Committee Meeting Committee Section – Brian Glover
- Committee Training Topic
- Brian – Have been working to get a training day going for district volunteers.
- Seth was not able to make it but has a training video for us to watch.
- Mary – Is this training a couple of hours or can we have it at our committee meetings?
- Brian – Might need more time like a half day on top of those trainings.

- Two weeks away for pinewood derby

- Registration is on doubleknot.

- Six new Cub Scout trainers in the district
- ITOLS will be at troop 465 scout hut.
- Religious Emblems - Tim Moss
- Duty to God Saturday March 4 at John’s Creek United Methodist
- You do not have to be a Methodist to participate
- John Dorman unit award
- Troop leader nominates the scout
- Deadline is February the 12th
- UMass – April 22nd - Adult training for BSA and Girl Scout leaders that are interested in Duty to God
- Free to attend and you will get a patch – Churches of all faith is invited
- Duty to God Camp is September 22-24 at Bert Adams.
- Scout Sunday is February 5th
- Service Projects – Elliott Segall
- Eastern Hemlocks is putting on a service project March 11 at Smithall Woods near Unicoi State Park(Double Check)
- Order of the Arrow - Chuck Brooks / Mark Harris
- Have moved OA to 2nd Thursday of the month. Relocated to a different room.
- Trying to form committees for the OA
- Recruited an adult from pack 2010 and has ceremony experience!
- Ceremony team is in rebuilding process and cannot go to crossovers right now.
- Might be able to put on ceremony at PLC.
- Have held one election so far at 241.
- Only had half the troops in district have responded to us on elections.
- Deadline is Feb. 28th
- Each Troop should have an OA member represent their troop to the OA chapter for the district.
- Had a meeting to get this going in our district, it is looking positive.
- Ordeal is May 1st weekend and 3rd weekend.
- February 9th we are holding OA meeting at Canton bowling alley
- Holding a scoutmaster lunch at 465 on March 25th.
- Still finalizing the date.
- Chapter regalia has been moved to 465.
- Things are looking good and moving in the right direction for the OA.

- 42 visitors a day, getting good exposure.
- Subscription is $96 for a year or $120 for two years.

- We need more information for the newsletter
- I have received unit contact info and will reach out to units for new information.
- T8880 committee got together and they might be to host Adventure Quest this coming year!
- Theme based around Jungle Book.
- Try to have activities taught by the Boy Scouts.
- Event is scheduled for August 26th.

- February theme is STEM in Cub Scouts
- Attendance is key!
- 9 Packs did not attend at all last year..
- Getting the same faces to come to RT.
- Invite all Cub Scout leaders to RT and spread the word for it.

- March – Keeping scouting fun and retention. Also is ladies night as well
