Discontinuation of Prorate/Co-Term and Multiyear Price Deviations for Packaged SMARTnet Contracts

On October 6, 2003, Cisco Systems® announced the release of the Service Contract Center (SCC) Renewal tool for indirect partners in the United States. The SCC Renewal tool enables U.S.-based distributors and resellers to quickly generate, share, modify, and order a service renewal for an existing service contract.

Beginning on January 26, 2004, Cisco® will discontinue price deviations for prorate/co-term and multiyear discounts for packaged SMARTnet® services applied to contract renewals purchased through U.S.-based distributors.

Partners can quote and order their service contract renewals using the SCC Renewal application. The SCC Renewal tool will automatically adjust pricing for prorated terms and multiyear adjustments. Because the tool enables you to quickly generate a quote based on information about the existing contract, and enables you to add or delete products and sites to the contract and edit the end dates, your renewal can be completed in less time. Additionally, after you place your order you do not need to register tokens. The contract will be updated automatically after Cisco accepts the quote.

In addition to the productivity savings, Cisco is currently running two reseller promotions to encourage use of the SCC Renewal tool. The “Just the Ticket” promotion provides cash awards for each order submitted through an authorized Cisco distributor using the SCC Renewal tool. Through the “Rev Up with Renewals” promotion, each 2-Tier partner may be eligible to earn a 2-percent rebate for orders placed on the Renewal tool.

Questions and Answers

Q: I have a deviation approved prior to January 26, 2004 that expires after that date. Will Cisco honor that deviation?

A: Yes. Cisco will honor all approved deviations until their expiration dates. However, extensions to existing deviations will not be approved.

Q: Will prorate and multiyear deviations be available for new contracts?

A: If the item is not covered under an existing service contract and the term of service is greater than one year, a prorate deviation can be used. Multiyear deviations will be allowed for new contracts.

Note: Service contracts for government agencies may be eligible for prorated contracts that are less than one year.

Q: I am not the reseller that registered the original contract that needs to be renewed. How can I get access to the contract to create a renewal quote and order?

A: Cisco Customer Initiated Quoting (CIQ) will allow the end customer to specify by Cisco.com user ID a reseller for quoting on a specific contract. For more information about the CIQ process, contact your Service Sales Representative or Channel Service Account Manager.
