he summer season is upon us and although it is going to be a warm summer, it’s a relatively short period of time between May to the around of September, and then our hot season will be behind us! June, July, August & September that’s it. Hurricane season which starts in June does last through November, Beeville TX is about 60 miles from the coast, every season Beeville will be within the area of the hurricane watch. Although most who evacuate from the coast can make their stop here, a drive to San Antonio and the Hill Country would be a safer bet in severe hurricane, and if people don’t evacuate soon enough they might not make it to Beeville! Some of the area benefits of Summer include living 60 miles away from beautiful Corpus Christi, which is a year around treat and the Port Aransas and Padre Island beaches. Dirks Associates website has detailed information page on Port Aransas and Corpus Christi area, if all links are checked out at the “Port Aransas” web page; links also located on several pages within the Beevillehome.com website.

efore looking for a house it is important to know how your credit score/ history will stand with a home mortgage lender all have different programs, and credit scores make a big difference on whether or not you are able to buy a home and at what interest rate. So call those lenders before striking out to buy a house. Currently the Beeville area has a reasonably good supply of houses but very little New Construction (which usually cost more) and there are lots of indications of pent up housing demand but market indications are that supply and demand factors between buyers and construction cost and profits locally have not been met.

The summer months are times for refreshing times: Helpful hints in personal care, and summer snacks will seek that end. First I would like to suggest a healthful ice-cream substitute: I often think how good a “frozen banana” split would be, but lets keep it simple and healthful! Go to the fresh produce department at the grocery store and buy 1 to 1 ½ bananas per person, take them home, peel off the skins, place on cutting board and cut in ¼ - 1/3rd inch thick buttons, scoop up, put in sandwich bags, freeze and enjoy!

Cucumber Skin Lotion (from: Norman Stark “The Formula Book” ISBN 0-380-00840-8) “ It has been known for hundreds of years that the juice of that wonderful vegetable the cucumber is not only taken internally, but has a gentle, cooling, soothing effect when applied to the skin. For a sample, take a good-sized slice and rub on your face, forehead, and the back of your neck. Umm! To make a couple of bottles of stuff to use anytime, first get 4 cups cucumber juice. Running a few cucumbers through a juicer if you have one if not, through a potato ricer may do this. If you

Use the ricer; strain it through several layers of cheesecloth to remove the pulp. Then, to your 4 cups of juice, add 1-cup glycerin, ¼ cup isopropyl alcohol and a speck of benzoic acid. A few drops of rose oil give it a nice smell if you wish.” I am happy to report that supplies for the personal care recipes are easier to find now on the internet several good sources are:

, to name a few.
