The North American Development Bank (NADB), an international organization based in San Antonio, Texas, seeks an individual for the position of:

Director of Public Affairs

General Description:Responsible for the development and execution of public affairs and media strategies, relations and activities, in both the U.S. and Mexico, in order to advance NADB’s ability to fulfill its mission by interacting with various stakeholders at all levels of government and non-governmental sectors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

For the U.S. and Mexico:

  • Develop, implement and follow up on annual external affairs and media plan.
  • Develop and maintain contacts and liaison with appropriate local, state and federal agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), academic, and development agencies to inform them of NADB’s activities and exchange information of mutual interest.
  • Follow-up of legislative, policy and regulatory initiatives related to NADB’s interest at the state and federal level.
  • Interact with elected officials and their staff in order to meet NADB’s legislative and policy objectives, including the passage of legislation at the state and federal level.
  • Handle all media inquiries and direct specific inquiries to the Managing and Deputy Managing Directors and other staff as appropriate.
  • Compose and edit press releases, manage website and social media content, pursue other communications and outreach activities as appropriate.
  • Manage and coordinate all external requests for NADB participation and support of forums and conferences.
  • Develop and maintain initial business development contacts with potential project sponsors in coordination with the Project Development Director.
  • Oversee the development and production of publications, videos, and other promotional materials.
  • Work with the Director of Administration in developing and implementing internal communication programs.
  • Prepare speeches and presentations for the Managing and Deputy Managing Directors, and when required, speak before audiences regarding NADB’s operations and status; and act as master of ceremonies at public meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Border Environment Cooperation Commission (BECC) in implementing an integrated and coordinated border outreach effort.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Undergraduate degree in political science, public relations or other related field; Master’s degree preferred.

A minimum of seven years of related professional experience.

Experience in legislative, governmental, media and community affairs.

Director-level experience with binational or multinational development institutions may satisfy education or work requirements.

Oral and written proficiency in English and Spanish.
