Spreadsheet Checklist- à Make the following changes by using your toolbars (NOT by right clicking)—you might want to print the checklist before starting, so you can check off each thing as you do it. Directions on how to complete each of the following steps is listed on page 2-3 of this document.

Start the program Microsoft Excel. It will open a new spreadsheet. Save the spreadsheet to your C: drive and name it Summer Olympics
Format the row height for cells A1-E6 to 15
Format the column width for cells A1-E6 to 20
Put all borders around cells A1-E6
Merge the cells A1-E1, and then type 1988 Summer Olympics Medals into the merged cells.
Bold and center in the title in A1-E1
In B2, type Gold. In C2, type Silver. In D2, type Bronze.
In A3-A6, list these countries in order (one per cell): Switzerland, United States, Spain, Italy
Sort cells A3-A6 in alphabetical (ascending) order
In B3, type how many gold medals each country won: Italy=5, United States=7, Spain=1, Switzerland=2
In C3, type how many silver medals each country won: Italy=2, United States=10, Spain=5, Switzerland=8
In C3, type how many bronze medals each country won: Italy=4, United States=3, Spain=6, Switzerland=1
Find the sum, or total medals won, by Italy. Make the sum show in E3
Find the sum, or total medals won, by Spain. Make the sum show in E4
Find the sum, or total medals won, by Switzerland. Make the sum show in E5
Find the sum, or total medals won, by United States. Make the sum show in E6
Make a 2D Clustered column bar graph/chart showing the number of gold medals won by each country. (cells A2-B6) Drag the bar graph/chart so that it appears under the data chart/table. Make the bars/columns yellow or gold.
Let’s pretend the United States won 2 more gold medals and 3 more silver medals than they actually did. Change the numbers on your data chart to reflect this. Now how many medals did the United States win over all?
Highlight and copy cells D2-D6 and paste the data into cells G2-G6. This data shows how many bronze medals each country won. Sort the data in descending (largest to smallest) order. This will show you the country rankings for the bronze medals.
Clear the contents in cell G2-G6. Once those are clear, remove the border from cells G2-G6 so that there is no border showing.
Save the changes you made to the spreadsheet.
Print one copy of the spreadsheet to turn into your teacher.
