This booklet has been compiled in conjunction with

Liturgical

Each day is presented with the date, day and the Sunday Title or Saints/Feast Day taken from The Church in Wales Lectionary produced by The Church in Wales/Yr Eglwys yng Nghymru. If a minorsaint’s day falls on a Sunday then it is not observed, unless it is your Feast of Title or Dedication,in which case it may take precedence over a Sunday in Ordinary Time. Otherwise it may be celebrated on the next available feria day.

Liturgical colours are indicated for Sundays and major holy days, reflecting widespread usage, but local custom may be followed if preferred.

This cycle of prayer should be used in conjunction with The Church in Wales Lectionary, copies of which are available from Churches Together Bookshop, City Church,Windsor Place, Cardiff, CF10 3BZ. Tel: 029 2022 7736

Holy Cross Day may be kept on Sunday 16 September as a diocesan celebration – the day on which the Diocese came into being and the Priory Church of St John Evangelist was raised to Cathedral status.

Cycle of Prayer

Each day has been divided into two sections:

1. The Diocesan Cycle2. The Anglican Cycle

Each Ministry Area has been allocated to a particular week. The Ministry Area Leader, clergy, lay ministers and any schools within a Ministry Area are prayed for. Where there is space, Provincial or Diocesan intentions are mentioned.

When it is the turn of your Ministry Area to be prayed for, please pray, that day, for the work of the Cathedral as your mother church.

This Cycle of Prayer is intended to be used together with the Ecumenical Prayer Cycle “With All God’s People”, published by the World Council of Churches and also with the Porvoo Communion Invitation to Prayer which can be found on the Church in Wales website.However, they are not meant to be followed rigidly - in times of need appropriate prayers should be substituted.
