A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE NINA AND FRANK MACK OF SANDY RUN FOR THEIR EXCEPTIONAL JOB AS PARENTS OF JAMES AND CATHERINE MACK WHO BOTH EARNED A PERFECT SCORE OF SIXTEEN HUNDRED ON THE SCHOLASTIC APTITUDE TEST AND TO EXPRESS THE PRIDE OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THIS FAMILY.
Whereas, Nina and Frank Mack, and their children, James and Catherine, live in the Sandy Run community of Calhoun County; and
Whereas, the Macks have earned the right to be “as proud as peacocks” about the accomplishments of their children. James is a senior and Catherine a junior at Hammond School in Columbia. James and Catherine both achieved a perfect score of sixteen hundred on the Scholastic Aptitude Test in the year 2000. Achieving the perfect score is a rare event; for siblings to achieve the perfect score is much, much rarer; and
Whereas, the Macks have raised intelligent, confident children who have excelled in a variety of activities, yet not been boastful about their accomplishments. Both Catherine and James made the Distinguished Honor Roll at Hammond School last semester. This meant each made A’s in every course, including the Advanced Placement courses. Of the twelve students in the upper school on the Distinguished Honor Roll, two of them were Catherine and James Mack; and
Whereas, besides academic success, the Mack children are athletic and enjoy other activities such as horseback riding for Catherine and piloting airplanes for James; and
Whereas, central to the achievements of Catherine and James are parents who emphasized reading to their children. Nina and Frank Mack read constantly to their children as youngsters, never allowing television to be a focal point of their lives; and
Whereas, now the nation has heard of the accomplishments of Catherine and James as they have been featured on the national television shows, Today and CNBC; and
Whereas, it is fitting that the members of the General Assembly commend these parents for their work in raising two children who serve as role models to their peers in intelligence, maturity, morality, and humility. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly recognize Nina and Frank Mack of Sandy Run for their exceptional job as parents of James and Catherine who both earned a perfect score of sixteen hundred on the Scholastic Aptitude Test and express their pride in the accomplishments of this family.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Nina and Frank Mack.
