DEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONES FOR CHILDREN

Listed below are milestones children generally achieve by the indicated age. However, all children develop at their own rate, and variations in their achievements are common. The following is a general list of what is likely to occur. If a child consistently fails to meet these milestones, further evaluation by a child development specialist should be arranged.

*For children born premature, assess according to adjusted age. For example, if an infant is born 2 months early, he/she will generally meet 3-month milestones at 5 months of age.
