Desloratadine is an antihistamine that reduces the natural chemical histamine in the body. Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose.

Desloratadine is used to treat the symptoms of allergies, such as sneezing, watery eyes, and runny nose. It is also used to treat skin hives and itching in people with chronic skin reactions.

Desloratadine may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Before taking desloratadine, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have liver or kidney disease.

Do not give this medication to a child younger than 2 years old without the advice of a doctor.

DESLORATADINE is an antihistamine. It helps to relieve sneezing, runny nose, and itchy, watery eyes. This medicine is used to treat or prevent symptoms of allergies. It is also used to treat itchy skin rash and hives.

This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

Desloratadine Dosage

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. Anakinra is taken once every 24 hours. Do not take double or extra doses without advice.

Tablets 5 mg are indicated for the relief of the nasal and non-nasal symptoms of allergic rhinitis (seasonal and perennial) in patients 12 years of age and older.

In adults and children 12 years of age and over, the recommended dose of Tablets is 5 mg once daily. In patients with liver or renal impairment, a starting dose of one 5 mg tablet every other day is recommended based on pharmacokinetic data. Administration of Desloratadine Tablets: Tablet on the tongue. Tablet disintegration occurs rapidly. Administer with or without water. Take tablet immediately after opening the blister.

Children 6 to 11 Years

The dose for children ages 6 to 11 years old is 2.5 mg once a day. This can be taken either as one RediTab or one teaspoon of syrup.

Adults and Children 12 Years and Over

For adults and children ages 12 and over, the desloratadine dose for tablets or Reditabs® is 5 mg, once a day. For syrup, the recommended dose is two teaspoons (5 mg in two teaspoons), once a day.

The starting dose for children ages 6 months to 11 months of age is 1 mg of syrup (2 mL), once a day. For children 12 to 23 months of age, if symptoms continue, the dose can be increased to 5 mg per day. The 5-mg dose may be given as a syrup twice a day, 12 hours apart, and divided into two ½-teaspoon doses.
