She was born 28 Jul 1820 in Taunaugh, County Sligo, Ireland4, and died 27 May 1892 in Quay Street, Sligo Town, County Sligo, Ireland5.

Notes for William Lovett:

According to the Primary Valuation of Ireland House Books (1852, 1854 and 1855), a nationwide survey of property holders taken between 1847 and 1864 in Ireland for the purpose of assessing the rate of local taxation, William Lovett leased a house from JohnMcCullagh at 12 Lower Knox Street. Sligo Town, County Sligo, Ireland. William Lovett's dwelling was described as a two story house measuring 18 feet in length, was 28 feet wide and 19 feet high and was given the quality letter 1C+, which meant that the dwelling was more than 25 years old, but in good repair. The dwelling had only one out building, a shed owned by John McCullagh. Sligo Town is in the civil parish of St. John's.

William Lovett moved from Lower Knox Street in 1858 and leased a house, office and yard at 14 Lower Quay Street from John Carroll. He remained the occupant of 14 Lower Quay Street until his death on May 13, 1888, when occupation of (title to) the property was transferred to his wife, Sarah Foley Lovett. Sarah Foley Lovett remained at this location until her death on May 27, 1892 when it was passed to Alexander Verdon.

William's Lovett's Civil Death Registration (1888, William Lovett, Sligo, 2/236 Q2) reads as follows:

"Died on 13th May 1888 at Quay Street, Sligo, William Lovett, a 73 year old married merchant, who died of gangrene of the arm. William had been suffering from gangrene for one month and his death was registered by his daughter, Lizzie (Elizabeth), who was present at her father's death."

The Calendar of Wills & Administration Papers in the National Archives contains the following Notice for the year 1897 pertaining to the administration of an estate for a William Lovett, which reads as follows:

"LOVETT, WILLIAM - 11 February [1897]. Letters of Administration of the personal estate of William Lovett, late of Quay Street, Co. Sligo, tailor, who died 27th May 1889, were granted at Balina to Elizabeth (Lovett) O'Brien (Wife of Joseph O'Brien), the daughter. Effects: 45 Pounds."

SPECIAL NOTE: The Letters of Administration for William Lovett are no longer extant. While the date of death of William Lovett recorded in the Civil Death Registration (13th May 1888) differs from the date of death stated in the administration papers (27th May 1889), it is believed that both records pertain to the same person. The administration papers state that the estate of William Lovett was granted to Elizabeth (Lovett) O'Brien "the daughter". The estate was not administered until 9 years after William Lovett's death, which may explain the discrepancy in dates.
