Are you are 14-18 and helping at Beavers, Cubs or Scouts?

Would you like to join in a weekend of fun and activities?

The 2012 Derbyshire County Weekend for Young Leaders will take place over theweekend 5th - 7th October at Drum Hill Campsite and is a nominal fee of £10(and a smile)! The format of the weekend will include opportunities to attend formal training modules as well as to take part in a number of different activities which should help you gain experience and be of help with planning your YL missions.

The weekend will start on Friday evening with some short activities and a chance for everyone to get to know each other. The format for Saturday and Sunday will be a mixture of module training and other activities designed to help you as a young leader. All meals will be provided with great chances to talk about projects, missions and activities you like doing, with other Explorers which you may not have thought about. There will be a Duke of Edinburgh and Chief Scout / Queen’s Scout Award Base with opportunities to link with Explorers from other Units and possibly join with them to form an Expedition team with them. Wayne Bulpitt (UK chief Commissioner) will be attending the weekend.

This weekend is available to all Derbyshire Young Leaders currently actively working in a Scout Group (i.e. with a Beaver Colony, Cub Pack or Scout Troop).Indoor accommodation is limited and will be allocated on a ‘first-to-return-the booking-form gets thebeds basis’, but there is plenty of opportunity for you to camp if you wish, tents can be provided it you are unable to get one from your group. It does not matter whether you have been a Young Leader for a number of years or you are juststarting to think about being a Young Leader either on a permanent basis or just for your DofE / Chief Scout Award Volunteering (Service). This weekend is for you! What if I can’t make the whole weekend? You are welcome to come and join in for a day.

If you wish to take part, please return the booking form to me at the address on the form by Friday 14thSeptember. Please tell any other Y.L.s you know about the weekend. Further application forms can be downloaded from the Countyweb site at
