Selected Active Projects

note all schedules are tentative

1.  Arena Embellishment Feasibility Study: The project calls for Victus Advisors to conduct a market analysis to see if there is sufficient demand for improving the facility. HKS Architects will use the market analysis to generate concepts. Funding will be provided by donors and sponsors.

Schematic Design October 2015

Changes from last month: Meetings were held on Tuesday November 3rd and December 15 to review findings and conceptual schematics. Discussions are being held with Administration and Finance, Alumni Enhancement and Athletics to plan the next steps.

2.  Skinner-Jones Hall: Programming and Schematic Design: Programming, Schematic Design, feasibility study to re-purpose this building. Program with other buildings having related departments (Math, Engineering, Health, etc).

Construction Phase I Utilities in Dec. 2015

Changes from last month: Bids were received by Ajax for the electrical infrastructure work over the winter holidays. Contract awarded and this small phase was completed during the winter holidays. GMP estimate from AJAX shows a shortfall of about $1.0 Million to complete all phases. Estimating continues to reduce that shortfall.

3.  Bldg 9 – Second Floor: Project is to create space for the Theater Group to practice.

Changes from last month: Bids received on October 30. Waiting for approval from AA to award the contract. Academic Affairs has requested an Order of Magnitude estimate to build the stage.

4.  Athletic and Recreation Facilities: This project includes Soccer Fields, Tennis Courts, Sand Volleyball courts and a Javelin Throw.

Changes from last month: Consultants were advised that the project is in abeyance until UNF receives donor funds. Comprehensive Total Project Cost with phases was delivered to Shari Shuman. Location of Practice Soccer Field has changed from original location to north of Lot 18.

5.  Department of Sculpture Move to Building 6:

Changes from last month: Campus Planning has reviewed the bids. After extensive discussions with bidders. This contract was awarded to Warden Construction. Work on site is scheduled for mid-February.

6.  Master Plan 2015-2025: The second round of Focus Group meetings were held on September 30 and October 1. Consultant finalizing reports. Campus Planning is arranging for Public Hearings on December 7 followed by various Agencies for review. Request for comments were sent to various public agencies for review of the Master Plan. Three responses were received as of January 20. Campus Planning will follow up with the rest of the agencies starting February 1st.

7.  Coggin Student Services in Bldg. 10: The project calls for the repurposing of the rat lab on the first floor of Bldg. 10 into offices for the Coggin Student Services function.

Changes from last month: Advanced Schematic Drawings were reviewed with the users on November 23. No changes to the concept were required. Consultant is now into the Construction Document Phase.

8.  Office of Academic Testing: This project entails the feasibility of relocating the OAT to Hicks Hall.

Changes from last month: Work on preliminary layout documents completed. An Order of Magnitude Cost Estimate was received from Elkins Constructors. Total Project Cost worksheet was forwarded to VP for review with Department and potential donors. Estimated Construction Cost of $688,464. Refinement of the estimate is being requested to better define where the costs are earmarked.

9.  Building 2 Interfaith Ministry Office Conversion: This project entails the feasibility of renovation space previously occupied by Academic Testing to house the Interfaith Ministry.

Changes from last month: Meetings with users being held for approval of concept before producing Design Development Documents. No Change this Period.

10.  New NCAA Outdoor Swimming Pool: Design and Construction of an outdoor Olympic-size pool and diving pool north of the existing Student Wellness Complex.

Changes from last month: Schematic Design package distributed to stakeholders in December 2014. Administration requested that the consultant reduce the scope of the project to just the pool and the pump house and complete the Design Development phase so we can get a cost estimate from a CM. Consultant’s fee proposal was revised and is now acceptable. Contract document is in the works. Contract documents were entered into the iContract system.
