Overview / About the Section
The Parliamentary and Business Information Services section, within the Office of the Serjeant-at-Arms, is responsible for enabling the work of the House of Representatives and its Committees, through the provision of a range of information services and content development activities. The section supports a range of internal and external stakeholders
Duties
Reporting to the Director, Parliamentary and Business Information Services, the role is responsible for working with the Department’s business areas to discuss and articulate requirements for various upcoming business system upgrades and replacements. The role will work predominately prior to the initiation phase of projects, developing documentation to initiate and inform the approach of projects.
Duties include:
  1. Leading discussions and workshops to develop and document requirements for business systems;
  2. Analyse existing systems to determine opportunities for improvement and outstanding issues;
  3. Identify and document high level business requirements;
  4. Identify areas of business process inefficiency and in order to suggest improvements, and
  5. Developing written material to guide the initiation, funding and project approach for ICT systems projects.

Selection Criteria

Essential Criteria:

  1. Proven experience in business analysis at the initiation stages of business system enhancement projects;
  2. Excellent analytical skills, including proven experience in the authoring of high level requirements, business process and other project planning documents.
  3. Well-developed verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to liaise and negotiate with a range of technical and business stakeholders
  4. Proven ability to work effectively in a small team environment and to tight deadlines.
  5. Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of the Department’s business processes and functions.
