The Institute is linked with industry and with other higher education institutions both in Ireland and in Europe and has built an active and productive research, development and consultancy programme. The Institute contributes effectively to the industrial and commercial growth of South Dublin County and has become a vital component of its infrastructure since it opened in 1992.

Part Time Lecturing Staff on Evening Programme - Overview

Part time lecturing staff are actively involved in the delivery of the Part time programme in IT Tallaght. Many (if not most) are working elsewhere, but wish to be involved in education and find that the Part Time Programme in IT Tallaght allows them to do this, as it provides a wide variety of courses from Certificate to Degree and Post Graduate Courses.

The Academic year for the Evening Programme begins mid-September each year. The Institute runs on a semesterised / modularised basis. This means that the whole assessment and examination process runs twice a year, again with the exception of a number of professional institute programmes. The two semesters normally run for 12 weeks each.

Staff are paid on an hourly basis – the current part time hourly rate is €54.54. Part Time lecturing staff are also expected to complete any necessary administration duties associated with their teaching duties such as data input, student surveys and other Quality Assurance matters.

Successful candidates will be required to have a Garda Background Clearance Check

Academic Requirements for Part time Lecturing Staff

Applications are welcome from those with an appropriate primary honours degree (level 8) – with a 2.ii honours classification or higher in the relevant field. In addition, at least three years relevant post graduate experience is also required.

A relevant postgraduate qualification or professional qualification and or relevant lecturing experience would be desirable. Successful candidates will be required to have a Garda Background Clearance Check.

Late applications will not be considered.
