6. BRIEF RESUME OF INTENDED WORK.

6.1 NEED FOR THE STUDY:

Srotas which are called Internal transport system, performs most vital role in the maintenance of health and pathogenesis of the disease. Hence it becomes necessary to understand about the srotas along with other fundamental concept of Ayurveda.

The function of srotas, cause of vitiation, abnormal sign, symptoms and planning of treatment with respect to the srotas can be well understood by the sound knowledge of srotomoola.

It is always necessary to study the srotas in proper with respect to any disease that can throw light on the pathological phenomenon of that specific srotas and the action of the treatment on the srotas as well as on the body. It also helps to understand the role of raktavaha srotas in shodhana therapy.

In the above shloka Acharya Sushruta explains the importance of Rakta and it is the sustainer of life.

Rich or poor, you have the most precious natural resource of all i.e. BLOOD. Humans can’t live without blood. Without blood, the body organs couldn’t get the oxygen and nutrients they need to survive. They wont be able to keep warm or cool off, fight infections, or get rid of our own waste products without enough blood, result in death.

The applied concepts regarding the raktavaha srotas and importance of rakta for the survival seems scattered all over the treatises. Hence, an intensive literary search to compile and organize together, along with modern anatomical knowledge is necessary to establish the objectives.

Keeping these points in mind “A comprehensive Study on Rakta and its srotas w.s.r to Raktam jeeva iti sthiti” is proposed as a hypothesis.
