BRIEF INTRODUCTION

The Department was established in early 1931 as the Applied Chemistry Department of Tainan Higher Technical School during the Japanese occupation. After the retrocession of Taiwan to China, it was reorganized to become the Department of Chemical Engineering in 1947. The Graduate School began the master's program in 1962 and the doctoral program in 1969. Since 1934, there have been over five thousand graduates with well-acknowledged achievements serving in domestic and foreign chemical companies, research institutes and schools.
