Summer Term 2017

Dear Parents,

It has been a busy week for Read School. On Tuesday we held our New Entrants’ Evening to welcome the families who will be joining us in September. A big thank you to all who helped, in particular to the children from the School Council: Ollie Poole, Christopher Chilvers, Jorja Finnegan, Sam Entwistle and Olivia Stevens who represented our school so well. They spoke confidently to the audience, were very well behaved with excellent manners, being wonderful ambassadors for the School.

Rotakids

On Wednesday, four children from Year 6 represented our School when they addressed the Padiham Rotary Club at the Higher Trapp Hotel. The children spoke about the fund raising and support our Rotakids Group has given to good causes over the year. They enjoyed the lunch that was provided, and had the chance to listen to the speaker at the meeting who spoke about the Air Ambulance. Plans have already been made to support this charity and we will be asking for donations of paperback books to help raise funds for the Air Ambulance(details to follow). Thanks to Mrs Galea for helping the children and well done to Christopher O’Connor, Evie Brown, Dylan Jobes and Olivia Stevens.

Sport

Our cricket team took part in tournament at Read C.C on Wednesday afternoon. They played three matches -winning one against Simonstone whilst losing narrowly to Whalley and Oakhill. The girls football team also played a tournament this week at Clitheroe Grammar School they played four matches winning one drawing one and losing two - both teams had a great time!. Well done to all.

Maypole

The children in Year 2 danced for the whole school during our assembly this morning. This was their first full dress rehearsal and it went perfectly. The children looked fantastic in their costumes. They have been practising with Mrs Gamble during their PE lessons and, once again, the children put big smiles on all our faces. Parents, friends and families will be able to see them perform again after school tonight.

Please note: NO netball club Tuesday 23rd May. NO homework club Friday 26th May.
