VISITOR RECEPTION ASSISTANT GRADE 2 (PART TIME / CASUAL)

ROLE

The Visitor Reception Assistant is a front of house role, ensuring all visitors receive the highest standard of visitor care when visiting Ness Gardens. The post holder will work across admissions, retail and events as well as encouraging participation in the Gift Aid scheme and the Friends of Ness Gardens.
Occasionally situations may arise that require the post holder to perform other duties or tasks as may be reasonably requested by Ness Gardens.
Working on a rota basis, the post holder will work across seven days.
Normally reports to the Visitor Services & Commercial Operations Manager.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the guidance and support and direction of the Visitor Services & Commercial Operations Manager / Duty Officer:
Visitor Welcome
·  Provide high levels of customer care at all times.
·  Provide a friendly, helpful and enthusiastic point of contact at all times.
·  Ensure knowledge on the gardens, history and activity is up to date and shared with visitors.
·  Encourage participation in the Gift Aid scheme.
·  Actively promote the benefits of the Friends of Ness Gardens and encourage membership.
·  Greet and welcome coach and group visitors.
·  Maintain high standards of presentation in all public areas.
Retail
·  Ensure that the gift shop and garden store are clean, tidy and well stocked at all times.
·  Place orders, add to relevant EPOS systems and return surplus stock.
·  Undertake visual merchandising and display work.
·  Promote and encourage gift shop and garden store sales.
Administration & Finance
·  Undertake general office, filing and administration tasks.
·  Process invoices and undertake other financial processes as appropriate.
·  Undertake cashing up and reconciliation tasks as appropriate.
·  Update financial and statistical data and records as appropriate.
Volunteers
·  Develop a strong working relationship with volunteers.
·  With the wider team, coordinate the volunteer activity and rotas.
Support the volunteers in their tasks.
Events
·  Support the events business as required.
·  Sell tickets and coordinate event bookings.
·  Support special events such as Children’s Fun Day and seasonal trails.
