JOB TITLE:
Secretary/Receptionist – For Community and Seniors Services Ladner (Seasonal Employee-Short Term Position)
BENCHMARK:

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:
Manager of Operations and Projects
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides reception, clerical and office assistance in the day to day office functions in support of the Community and Seniors Services programs operating out of our Ladner office.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide reception support to ensure that all callers, both in person and by telephone, are greeted with courtesy and respect and are assisted in a timely manner with their requests.
- Provide assistance to the Community and Seniors services programs with the day to day office functions in the Ladner office.
- Collaborate with community stakeholders, resources, support staff and volunteers.
- Participate in the on-going Performance and Quality Improvements activities such as: meet program documentation requirements; collect data regarding use of program, client and volunteer and community satisfactions; and participate in program evaluation.
- Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Grade 12 graduation or equivalent, commercial program, business school, or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of three years general office / receptionist experience
(Community service / non-profit experience preferred)
(Experience in working with volunteers preferred)
Skills &
Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Ability to work independently and in co-operation with others
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize
Keyboarding at 60 words per minute
Excellent computer skills including experience with current business computer
software applications, such as Microsoft Office 2003 software and network
applications (preferred).
Knowledge of current office procedures and equipment
Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients
Ability to deal effectively with people, some in crisis situations
Knowledge of senior’s & community programs and services

LOCATION OF WORK:
Deltassist Seniors and Community Services office, Ladner
HOURS OF WORK:
14 hours per week,
(2 day per week – days to be determined)
Regular scheduled hours 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (some flexibility required)
TIME FRAME:
The week starting October 24, 2016 to the week ending December 23, 2016
(Possible casual work after this date available.)
RATE OF PAY:
Administrative support classification – Step 1 - Grid level 10
This position is covered under the collective agreement and requires Union membership.
