DEL RIO ROTARY INDEPENDENCE DAY RODEO QUEEN RULES AND REGULATIONS 2012

The contestant must be 15 – 23 years old by May 25, 2012. Any contestant that has reached her 24th birthday on or before May 25, 2012 is ineligible to compete in the Del Rio Rotary Independence Day Rodeo Queen Contest. Proof of age must be submitted with the application.

The contestant will be required to perform the ride pattern enclosed before the judges & be able to carry the flag on your horse during the rodeo event. The contestant must provide her own horse for the competition.

The contestant will be required to give a personal interview with the judges. She will be asked to come forward so the judges can take a look at her. She also will be required to give a three minute speech on “What it means to be an American”. Tentative date for the horsemanship judging is Wednesday June 6, 2012 at the Roping Arena Val Verde County Fair Grounds at 6:30P.M.

Contestants are required to wear jeans, hat, boots and belt during the competition.

Contestants will be judged on personality, appearance, citizenship and horsemanship.

It is mandatory to sell a minimum of 25 tickets to the Del Rio Rotary Independence Day Rodeo. Tickets will be included in the application packet and must be turned in the night of the Horsemanship judging.

There is no entry fee.

The winner will be required to represent the Del Rio Rotary Club at various events. The Del Rio Rotary Independence Day Rodeo is July 6th & 7th, 2012. The winner will need to be available these two days and be able to ride horse back during the Grand Entry for the Rodeo each night.

There will be a $500.00 cash scholarship awarded to the winner of the Del Rio Rotary Independence Day Rodeo Queen Contest along with prizes to all contestants.

By my signature on this application, I grant permission to the committee to verify any information contained on my application. I hereby release The Committee and the Rotary Club from responsibility of injury or loss to persons or property, involving me or persons related to my appearance in the Contest, and which applies also to heirs, assigns and executors or administrators for me or persons relative to my Contest and all officers, directors and member individuals of the Del Rio Rotary Club.

I hereby release title, claim and right to photographs and public relations materials involving me to the Del Rio Rotary Club for use in Rodeo promotion.

I hereby certify that in the event I receive the Del Rio Rotary Independence Day Queen title, I will complete the tenure of my title and in the best interest of the Del Rio Rotary Club’s Rodeo Queen program; and will relinquish all claims and accouterments, (sash, etc.) relating to the title upon the naming of my successor.

Release and Hold Harmless Agreement

The Undersigned assumes the risks inherent in rodeo, roping and other horse-related activities, including but not limited to bodily injury, physical harm and death to horse, rider and spectator. In consideration, therefore, for the privilege of participating in riding events and/or working around horses at the Val Verde Fairgrounds, the Undersigned does hereby agree to assume the inherent risks of such activities and hold harmless and indemnify and defend the Del Rio Rotary Club, its employees and volunteers, and further release them from any liability or responsibility for accident, damage, injury, death or illness to the Undersigned or to any family member or spectator accompanying the Undersigned on the premises. Further, the Undersigned agrees to hold harmless and indemnify Del Rio Rotary Club, its employees and volunteers from theft, loss, or damage to the Undersigned’s personal property.
