Identify the following:
Stop motion / Motion (stopped or blurred) / Blurred
Diffused / Degree of Diffusion / Direct-diffused
1/250, 1/500, 1/1000 / Possible Shutter Speed setting / 1/30, 1/60

Complete the shutter speed scale and identify how motion is captures and the amount of light captured.

AMOUNT OF LIGHT (More or Less)
1 / 1/2 / 1/4 / 1/8 / 1/15 / 1/30 / 1/60 / 1/125 / 1/250 / 1/500
CAPTURES MOTION (Stopped or Blurred)

Define the following Art Elements:

LINE / An element of art that is the path of a moving point through space.
SHAPE / A two-dimensional area that is defined in some way.
FORM / Objects having three dimensions.
SPACE / The element of art that refers to the emptiness or area between, around, above, below, or within objects.
TEXTURE / The element of art that refers to how things feel, or look as if they might feel if touched.
COLOR / An element of art that is derived from reflected light.
VALUE / The element of art that describes the darkness or lightness of an object.

Complete the aperture and shutter speed scales to answer the following equivalent exposure questions:

INCREASE LIGHT
F/22 / F/16 / F/11 / F/8 / F/5.6 / F/4 / F/2.8 / F/2
1 / 1/2 / 1/4 / 1/8 / 1/15 / 1/30 / 1/60 / 1/125 / 1/250 / 1/500
DECREASE LIGHT

Identify 3 Equivalent Exposures to the given aperture and shutter speed setting:

F/8 / F/5.6 / F/11 / F/16
1/60 / 1/125 / 1/30 / 1/15

Identify and define the 3 types of light (Degree of Diffusion):

1.  Direct / Creates hard-edged, dark shadows. Rays are nearly parallel, striking the subject from one direction.
2.  Direct-diffused / Partially direct with some diffused or scattered rays. It appears to come from a definite direction and creates distinct shadows, but with edges that are softer than those of direct light. The shadow edges change smoothly from light to dark, and the shadows should have visible detail.
3.  Diffused / Scatters the light onto the subject from many directions. It shows little or no directionality. Shadows, if they are present at all, are relatively light. Shadow edges are indistinct, and subjects seem surrounded by illumination.

Define the following terms:

1.  ISO / A numerical rating that describes the sensitivity to light of film or of a digital camera’s CCD. The ISO rating doubles as the sensitivity to light doubles.
2.  Panning / To follow the motion of a moving object with a camera. This will cause the object to look sharp and the background to be blurred.
3.  Middle Gray / A standard average grey tone of 18% reflectance. (cameras are calibrated to middle gray.)
4.  Bit / The smallest unit of information usable by a computer, indicated by a 1 or a 0, describing one of two conditions: on or off.
5.  Bit Depth / The number of bits used to represent each pixel in an image, determining its color and tonal range.
6.  Silhouette / A scene or photograph where the background is much more brightly lit than the subject.
7.  Unity / Unity is the quality of wholeness or oneness that is achieved through the effective use of the elements and principles of art.
