Deer Park FFA Booster Club Scholarship Application for 2011

Criteria for Selection

1.  Senior at Deer Park High School

2.  2.5 GPA

3.  Must have passed all areas of TAKS

4.  Must be planning to enter College/Technology program of study

5.  Must have been a Deer Park active Chapter member for two (2) years

Scholarships will be announced at the Spring FFA Banquet

Scholarship packets will be available at Ms. Burchfield’s office. Completed Scholarship packets must be turned in to Ms. Burchfield by 3:00 PM on April 29, 2011.

Attach to Application

1.  Copy of latest report card, GPA and class rank.

2.  Copy of TAKS scores.

3.  An essay of a minimum of 250 words typewritten. This essay should reflect what you have gained from being a FFA Chapter Member. How do you plan to use this knowledge gained towards your education and towards your future goals in life. Why do you feel you deserve this scholarship?

4.  Questionnaire – typewritten only.

  1. How long have you been an active FFA Chapter Member and why did you join?
  2. How have you been active in supporting the DP FFA Booster Club? (participation in fundraising, work projects, etc..)
  3. List all the Agriculture classes that you have taken at DPHS.
  4. List all FFA Chapter activities that you have participated in during you high school years. Be sure to include things such as FFA meetings, judging contests, leadership opportunities, work projects, etc.
  5. List all awards or achievements you have received while in high school.
  6. List all school or community activities or organizations in which you have participated while in high school.

Disbursement of Scholarship Money

1.  Students awarded a booster club scholarship shall receive their funds once registration (transcript) has been provided to the Booster Club.

2.  Students receiving a booster club scholarship have one (1) year from their graduation date to collect their scholarship funds.

3.  Scholarship funds shall be kept in a savings account and may not be used for other booster club business.

4.  Scholarship Guidelines

  1. Money should be used for tuition, books, and room and board at the college of your choice.
  2. Monies designated for scholarships shall be placed in the scholarship account in September of each year.
  3. The Deer Park FFA Booster Club scholarship program shall be operated in accordance with the Deer Park FFA Booster Club’s By-Laws.
  4. After the one (1) year grace period, any unclaimed scholarship monies will roll back into the FFA Booster Club Scholarship Fund.

5.  Number of Scholarships awarded and amounts:

While it is the Deer Park FFA Booster Club’s goal to give every eligible senior a scholarship, we can only give out funds that are available. Scholarship amounts will be based on a two year member receiving up to $500.00, a three year member up to $750.00, and a four year member up to $1000.00. If we have remaining funds in any given years’ scholarship budget, then we may award the top applicants an additional scholarship of up to $500.00.
