Mark Asher, Principal

Dear Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to Dos Caminos Elementary School! I hope you and your child are as excited as we are for the start of a great school year. Our new school year begins Wednesday, August 30th. Your child’s teacher will be Jennifer Case for this school year. She can’t wait to meet all of you!

Dos Caminos will be offering full day Transitional Kindergarten (TK) classes. Like all Pleasant Valley TK classes, we run a staggered day program. Teachers will be spending the first three weeks of school assessing your child in order to create the best academic environment for your child. All TK students will follow the schedule below for the beginning of the school year.

August 30thFirst Day of School! *Parent Orientation from 8:05am – 8:30am

August 30th – September 1st TK students attend school from 8:10am-11:55am. (Students bring snack but NO lunch) *NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH

September 5th - September 22nd TK students attend school from 8:10am-12:57pm. (Students will begin eating lunch at school on September 5th)

September 25thStaggered day schedule begins and continues for the rest of the year.

A few things that you may want to know prior to the first day:

  • Send a healthy snack daily for morning recess. Please do not send chips or cookies. Some suggestions: fruit, juice, cheese, crackers[AS1]. Please pack your child’s snack separate from his/her lunch.
  • Meals: Lunch is $3.50. Milk is $ .50. Food Service envelopes are available in the front office. You may prepay for a couple days, a week, a month or one day at a time.
  • Only adults authorized by you via the Emergency Card are allowed to pick your child up from school. If your child goes to a childcare facility, it needs to be listed on your child’s emergency card as well. Please remember to update the emergency card online through the Parent Connect at Call our front office should you have any questions.
  • The tardy bell rings at 8:10 a.m. Students who arrive later than 8:10 a.m. are considered tardy and will require a note.
  • Supply Lists: Enclosed is a suggested supply list for your reference. Please send your child with a backpack large enough to take home a homework folder.
  • Labeling: Please label all clothing, backpacks, snack bags, lunch box and[AS2] other personal items with first name and last name.

I look forward to meeting all of you and getting to know you as your child begins his/her academic journey here at Dos Caminos.

Sincerely,

Mark Asher, Principal
