Dear Streams Families,

Welcome to the 2016 - 2017school year! This year our building theme is, “There’s Only One You”! The staff and I are eager for our students to bring their unique and special gifts and talents across the Streams’ threshold to start our school’s 50th year! By the way, I hope that there were some entertaining conversations this summer, as student speculated on what they would be doing at 50, as part of their PYP Summer Homework! Those should be great fun to share as we get re-acquainted!

Families will see some changes when they call the school or stop by the office. It is my pleasure to welcome Mrs. Linda Schill, as our new Streams School Head Secretary. Mrs. Schill has done an amazing job of transitioning into this important and challenging role. I know everyone will join with me in welcoming her and helping her with this transition! Plus, you will love what she has done to make the office a “magical kingdom” for our students!

Other changes are afoot in the hallways of Streams. Please join me in welcoming the following professionals, new to our staff or new to their roles:

KINDERGARTEN: Ms. Nina Griffith is joining the team in AM K.

THIRD GRADE: Miss Carrie Schade is coming to Streams and teaching 3rd grade.

FOURTH GRADE: Mrs. Amy Barker, Mrs. Anne Conrad, and Miss Amanda Parr all join this team in full time contracts.

Beyond the classroom, I am delighted to announce that Mrs. Leslie Smirniw is transitioning from a third grade classroom teacher to the role of Streams Guidance Counselor! Mrs. Smirniw is planning an active role in all grades, as she delivers the USC Guidance Curriculum in the classrooms, continues to facilitate our Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, and meets with students through a variety of focus groups. Parents, please reach out to Mrs. Smirniw, as she is looking forward to being a resource to all of our families.

The other big addition to the Streams campus is our expanded playground! The final installation is scheduled for completion on August 27th. We will dedicate our new playground in conjunction with our building’s 50th birthday bash later this fall. Watch for more details to come!

Many of our parents have been at work behind the scenes, getting ready for Back to School! We couldn’t do it without our terrific PTO Officers, Committee Chairs, and Volunteers! Thank you in advance for always responding with a smile when we ask for a hand! Our newest kindergarten students enjoyed “Play Dates in the Park” throughout the summer, getting to know each other while having a great time. The PTO hosted a “New Family Breakfast” for over 30 students new to Streams! Now it’s time to start thinking about “Royal STRAVAGANZA”, scheduled for October 21st, and sure to be a regal event!

Please mark your calendar for Open House on September 8th, and read the eAlerts carefully. In fact, please carefully READ all the notices from us! We pack them with important information! We look forward to partnering with you in order to help your child learn and grow in all areas. As our district’s tagline states, it is our mission to:
